Among Friends
You handed them the tools to excel and transcend. When their filled with hesitation. This doubt you'll suspend.
Going to any lengths to prepare and defend. Until the day, they cross you. And refuse to make amends. Taking the bond you thought would last forever.
Bringing it to a bitter end. Forcing you on the defensive, because against you they must contend. And you teach them a lesson that forces them to comprehend.
That they should never make enemies of those they still need as friends.

Underachiever
You have what others can only dream. The security in knowing that you are free. Of the bonds that shackle most, making them unable to lead.
A life of possibilities where all things can be. But you knowingly live under the pretense of lies. You did everything you could to deceive and connive.
Taking, while those more worthy were deprived. You earned nothing nor did you wish to strive. To cement your status and wipe away the lies.
At peace with the fact that you did not try. And for those who need the help you'll give them nothing even...

Road Blocks
Your foolishness haunts us. It brings us down. Blocking a road that will never be found.
Forever halting our progress and keeping us bound. Ever closer to you where our dreams are drowned. Like rats on a ship who will never find ground.
We'll only hear about places that are world renowned. Only think about the feelings that they say are profound. Acting as a cautionary tale when we somberly recount.

The Unattainable
The bliss won't outlast the lie you live. Illusions you created will soon start to give. And the gap between you and your paradise is one you'll never bridge.
For once the world crumbles beneath you. From the bottom you'll climb. And everything working for you.
Will betray you in time. Like sand through an hourglass, your chances are fine.
Wading though the muck, you are stuck in the mire. And the visions you remember are that of a liar.
Memories of an empire. One you'll never reacquire. Because your forever below the...

At Arms Length
I will forever wear these scars. Symbols of a youth taken. And an innocence marred.
Taken by those I trusted, given for those I loved. Until my dreams are charred. Forced to stare back at a face that's forever hard.
Never again will I wonder what lies beyond the stars. My deepest thoughts remain the thickness of the bars. Keeping me from doing irrevocable harm.
Against those who have done me wrong. And those to which i would spar. Keeping them safe and at a distance by watching this world from afar.

Choose Your Path
Ether way will kill you. So just pick a way to die. Leave this world honorably.
Or live without a spine. Die for those who love you. Or kiss them goodbye.
For the selfishness that infects you is in abundant supply. May it never spread to those nearby. For your now a person in which they can't rely.
I would much rather bleed then see those I love cry. Even though it's hard to stay loyal to those who stood by. As I painfully fell to my knees.
Believing that I would breathe my last and die. Hoping that when i rise they will...

Old Habits Die
You can't be reborn until you die. Putting your bad habits to rest. And saying your final goodbyes.
To a life you once loved and now detest. Forever fighting these urges you must now defy. Screaming sacrilege to those who would try.
The very thing that once got you high. For you push your new practices on every passerby. But you remain infected even though you deny.
Because you didn't want to kill that part of you. Fearing the hole of you would die.

Waiting Till the End
You're waiting on a sun that will never rise. Staring at opportunities, you'll never try. And you're stunned by outcomes that should be no surprise.
For anyone looking beyond you knew it would go awry. That your future became a noose that you had tied. And it never occurred that due diligence be applied.
Forever shaking your head pretending to understand the hows and whys. Seeing nothing but the prospects pass your eyes. Choosing instead to live your life through email replies.

The View on High
They destroyed your future before you knew you had one. Bleeding the banks dry before you were old enough to get some. Forcing you to live beneath someone's thumb.
Just because that person makes substantial sum. And you're nothing more than a bastards son. Relegated to living a little better than a bum.
Born into a world where happiness isn't enough. And the American dream is just a rich man's bluff. Designed to keep you walking the line.
Between those with the power. And the modest ones they force to cower.

Where Pride Lies
There are no heroes in war. Only who have yet to die. Foolish youth fighting under the pretense and lies.
Blinded by the want to prove themselves. And the need to bolster their pride. For god, honor and country is a reason that no longer abides.
Only the medals upon the chest. And the pleasure that comes with killing those who hide. Are the factors that will guide.
Those who believe only by bringing death may they stride.

Shedding Lies
Too many people are effected when the innocent die. People whose emotions can't be set aside. Shedding tears, they can never hide.
I look upon these people from the outside. Knowing if I had the chance. I would never close the divide.
Because when looking at these sentiments. All I see are the downsides. Of Mourning for those who would cringe if I crossed their eyes.
Leading me to believe every tear could be a cold-blooded lie.

What Drives Us
Hope is what we fight with. When all else is lost. When we're at the point of no return.
And the threshold has been crossed. Between running like lesser men. Or staying too hold the line.
The enemy will know us by the will within our eyes. By the blood upon our faces. They won't leave the killing fields alive.
You'll need the blessings of your gods. Even though I'll fight without mine. We'll meet in the middle.
Whether we have those chills at our spines. One of us will live. Or we'll both have to die.
