POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
It's not up to me
It’s not up to me
It’s not up to me for the world to get better,
I’m merely the voice of its imminent fall,
When wars and despair kill the poor and the beggar,
I sit in my chair and I drink my Pinot.
It’s not up to me for the world to get better,
I’m nothing, just noise and a face, nothing more,
If Governments steal and our taxes get greater,
I put on my shorts and I go for a walk.
It’s not up to me for the world to get better,
I’m nobody, naught but a wandering soul,
When speed trains derail and the friend becomes traitor,

You’re right to want me gone
You’re right to want me gone
You’re right to want me gone.
The many times I failed to see
How much I’ve changed, no decent man
In love, like I pretend to be
To you, my all, deserves to hold your hand.
You’re right to want to leave.
There’s hardly anything I’ve done
To make us work, and keep you here,
A rose, a kiss, a song or some’
That you’ll remember so you know we’re meant to be.
You’re right to go with him...
He’ll be a better man than me,
A kinder heart, a sinless dream,

They said to me that if I learn,
Someday I’ll run this ugly world...
Earn big and shine at every turn
In fancy cars and dressed to code,
Making a difference, buying things
And taking holidays abroad,
That’s what they told me as a kid:
That if I learn, I won’t be broke.
Let’s see us now: Diplomas? Loads...
Certifications to be King,
Rewards and nominations, more
That any man could ever dream,
Books read and cultures learned by heart
And understood in what they mean
Four different languages, self taught
And spoken well, no accent....

I just want...
I don’t seek no fortunes,
Money leaves me cold,
Dreams of wealth mean nothing,
Hardly worth the thought,
Used to dream of riches,
Now that I have grown,
I just want to offer
This orphan child a home.
I don’t need no trouble,
Money brings them all,
People should be happy,
Money makes them sore,
I’m ok with little,
Little’s all I know,
I just want to offer
This orphan child a home.
I don’t need no limelight
Cash don’t make me strong,
Thought I needed thousands,
Hundreds are enough,
I feel old and empty,...
