Gone Now
She sits on their bed, the one where he held her
And thinks of the emptiness of the sheets, the dissipating heat
Subtle impressions that linger there still
Cold now
The pillow shows traces of contented caresses,
Errant hairs cling to crisp white cotton
Forgotten for the moment in haste of responsibilities
Alone now
Tea lights line the shelves and dresser
Lined up like the perimeter of a forest fire
Nothing like the flame that burned so hot, moments ago
Banked now
Memories fresh of a friend, a lover, a...

Part of Me
When I see you
My heart smiles
Echoed upon my lips
And overflowing from my eyes
When I hear you
My emotions ignite
Spreading flames
Throughout my mind
When I think of you
My heart sings
Songs of love and longing
And my soul listens
When I touch you
My body fills and thrills
To the warmth of your skin
Connecting our essence
When I say your name
My heart, my mind, my body
My entire soul, are made aware
Of how much a part of me you are
My heart smiles

Immersed In You
I will trace myself in the hollow of your neck
write a sonnet to your earlobe
bring your eyes a morning sunrise
sip wine from your lips
if I grow cold this evening
I will wrap myself in your skin
weave a scarf from your memories
put my hands in yours for gloves
when I am alone and in need of peace
i will dive into your mind
perch on your shoulder to survey the scene
and trail my fingers across your cheeks

Frosty Memories
In places of misty fog
much patience waiting
produces brilliant diamonds
and
when the world collapses in on itself with a single smile
a thousand love songs dance upon the wind
the touch of a fingertip someplace innocuous
makes shivers radiate from small soft spaces
crickets and frogs play rhythmic selections to the swallows
whose song winds threads of possibility into our hair
I can think a thousand thoughts of buoyant maybes
now that I know you can dance with your heart, too
dancing with dreams am I,...

Soul Bound
I want to walk up to you, someday
my soul unbound and my eyes alight
with my spirit and your love
and ask you to Love me
It will not happen
my heart is tethered
my eyes dim with the knowledge
that you do not love me the same
Your hands reach for me
you say you want to Know me
and bond our minds with your words
I think you do not know me at all
my body loves you
my mind as open as my thighs
for you
my eyes glow when they rest upon you
but my soul is bound
and your heart...

Sacrifice
I died last Wednesday, 11pm eyes closed
the voices of my mother and lover
pushing my mind in on itself
they came to an agreement,
and the timbres of their voices crashed
down about my feet until I was buried
each saw me as their sole possession
and neither would have me
for I could not choose between them
my mother saw my lover as a breathing sin
my lover convinced me I was right in loving
but he could not cut the cords of
silk and blood binding me to my mother
and so I died – in hope both could have me always
the voices of my mother and lover
pushing my mind in on itself
they came to an agreement,

down about my feet until I was buried

Oak Tree
Sometimes it is lonely
in love with an immovable tree
but he is always there for me
his bark rough, solid and stoic
but his boughs rustle in a soft caress
birds coo from darkest hollows
I sing along, the parts that I can follow
softness of leaves falling for me
prompts that my own song begin
such tender rhyme, and sighs of joy
of love from my own bur oaken boy
in love with an immovable tree
but he is always there for me

I Dream You
the sunlight dances
its way through the clouds outside
and shades within
to find my eyelids and caress them open
and the first thing I see is you
quiet and still
your beloved face against the pillow
a half smile on your lips
a remnant
of some pleasant dream
perhaps of me
I reach over
and run my fingers
across the stubble of your cheek
and enjoy the response
as you move into the touch
and snuggle up to me
soon you will awaken
and your thoughts may be
of chores needed doing

Liquid Arms
Drunk on remembering your body
I step into the tub and the fragrant water
Warm steam, music and candlelight
I am dreaming of you,
as I slip into liquid arms
The tantalizing scent of coconut sharpens my muse
I am warm ... flushed skin
and you are here with me
I remember your thighs around mine
Our bodies molding together to become one,
But my heart is in a solo flight
As I miss you tonight...
My one and only love
I step into the tub and the fragrant water

Weaving their way
Gently down her cheeks

In this placid embrace
They hold each other
But say nothing

That here in this room

My body has a memory
As I feel you lying next to me
Your scent fills my chest
Each time I lay to rest
I can taste you in my dreams

Such joy is not a sin
