I mostly write dark poetry, though like reading all. I prefer to write rhyming poetry but realize just how archaic that is. I do appreciate all forms.

The Fall of Icarus
Twas just a simple ball of string—
The gift given that riled the king…
Eyes ablaze, watching in vexation
The damning of father’s creation.
Minotaur dead, labyrinth flawed—
Stood he, in shame, believed a fraud…
Scourge of Minos falling to us,
I, and my father, Daedalus.
Where landed we on this damned isle,
To march ever our endless mile.
Alas, a prison we would share
Towards destiny fraught with despair.
Our gifts turned curse—our smiles to woe,
No measure of the pain we’d forego.
Standing next each other, each alone,

I pass the faces in my mind, not sure what they are saying.
I read the concern in their eyes, not sure what it’s conveying.
I turn, in kind, from this palace of archaic conviction,
To exercise what I have won by mere right of affliction.
The memories but ridicule, their echoes seem to follow
A vision bade to glean some strength from a feeling most hollow.
Drawing the fuel of my disease, precursor to the pyre;
I watch, at length, the escapade of my Rome set to fire!
Maniacal laughter offset, as if pinned to the riddle;
From center stage, upon the dais,...
