POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I mostly write dark poetry, though like reading all. I prefer to write rhyming poetry but realize just how archaic that is. I do appreciate all forms.
Detached Heart
Baby I'm just a man,
A man who's had things rough.
I love you all I can,
It never seems enough.
Doesn't mean I'm not trying,
Or giving all I got.
Still something inside's dying,
And it's worse than I thought.
It started with your lying,
And the little ploys you'd play.
Bullshit you thought me buying—
Things done when I looked away.
It evolved to a numbing,
Those nails deep in chest.
Oh, you thought me succumbing,
I just found it a test.
You publicly cast me shame,
Still kept me...
A man who's had things rough.

Destiny
Destiny, a slow-moving train,
Quite the story to tell.
At early age, well dipped in pain,
A man will see his well.
He'll kid himself, think he can turn
The way that this train goes.
Each try, another bridge will burn
As he long before knows.
The engines fueled by frustration,
The train will pick up speed.
Mind recalling each narration,
While harrowing the deed.
He'll try again, just to forget
What chance brought him before.
No brakes, just screeches of regret
While still...

Acceptance
Shame and secrecy, heaven's ward?
I don't need love like that.
This blasphemy I've so run toward
Ever my jester's hat.
A sagging point, a flapping ball
Takes guidance from the wind.
There to anoint my every fall
With greetings from the end.
The end that I may never see,
(Crooked man's endless mile).
I walk the line ever to be
Bedridden in denial.
My price to pay: A life alone.
'Lived it forty-plus years.
One sin to pay I'll not atone...
I gave to her my tears.
Essence of soul, I'm trapped in her.
No finding my way...

Feeding the Monster
Slightly altered, pinions square,
Ah, I like this face fine.
Brightly deposed, buyer beware
The thing that you'd name "mine."
Her psalm a wail of travesty,
Her veil a gleam of hope...
Cold palm, denial and tragedy
Given a dead man's grope.
Liquid organic suicide,
It whets the taint of lips.
Insipid kiss, manic the ride
Of mind-altering trips.
Tethered to negative emote,
Audacity takes plunge.
Weathered resolve, so keenly smote,
Turns infantile grunge.
The lure, so tightly spun, not rope... ...

Perfect
May they bury you with pride,
Cause I won't be by your side.
So staunch in your perfection,
As our love was cast aside.
Truly saw yourself blameless,
Dignified by such trait.
Couldn't see your reflection
In that oh so shameless state.
I didn't need a *perfect lover...
Not a perfect anything!
Still you cast me 'neath a cover,
And refused to let me sing.
Brought me your love in darkness,
With promise of evermore.
But left me to rot in starkness,
Graced by those that you loved more.
But something wrong in paradise,
Now...
Cause I won't be by your side.

Beneath these Scars
Walking through this rubble
I know I will never leave.
Sun splitting clouds ahead of me,
Turn back around to grieve.
Her lips purse in the ashes,
Her touch on the still breeze...
The forty-less one lashes
That nightly become my tease.
Truth of my bed of sorrow;
What's beneath these scars won't heal.
Pray I will wake tomorrow,
And none of it will be real.
The answer never coming,
A product of human waste;
I know that there is nothing
To ease all that I have faced.
A soul despondent, sightless stare...

The Weeping
I don't weep for the could have beens
Lost to Winter's first kiss.
Nor hold sacred remember whens...
'Know I must live with this.
The stars refuse to shine at night,
Lost to this darkened haze.
No soul guidance to gift with light
My path of wasted days.
Won't weep for stories never told
That only lived in dream.
The mind grows tired, emotions cold,
And dreams aren't all they seem.
That shiny spot upon my soul—
Those dark speckles on eyes,
Blend a chaos beyond control...
Alas, all...

My Addiction
The drudgery goes on and on.
Try to focus, you're too far gone.
To get that fix you'd sell your soul...
To not, spin off out of control.
You feel the need pulse in your vein.
Time plants the seed, a wondrous strain.
It drives you mad to go without,
Though killing you there is no doubt.
The needle lies you once were told,
Before your destiny was sold.
Now all you know, that welling lust
For something you could never trust.
Each time you call, it's always there
To further state of disrepair,
And yet you give your all to it...

Relative Denial
Relative denial, you just feign what you can't see.
A lifetime spent on trial, don't know how or who to be.
The endless accusations, so damn hard to sift the lies.
Cold hearted manipulations all painted to sweet soft sighs.
Where's forever's been spent fighting, but you're not sure you've made way,
When there's no use in delighting on the ruins left to decay.
You reach beneath the surface to pull forth what you can't hold...
One eyebrow raised to hearts misphazed, a kiss to lip ice-cold.
Time spent, the declaration of a love that never was,...

Tanny's Tale
There once was a man born of war...not just a soldier, but a brutal taker of souls. Once the war was over, he suddenly found himself part of a world he could not understand. He hated the city life, the congestion... the petty people with their painted plastic smiles. Try as he might, he could never be a part of that. Didn't even believe smiles could be real, so he ran.
He ran back to the woods, where life after life he had felled in the war. Somewhat proud of his accomplishments, he never understood the stares he got for sharing them with others. The woods were quiet now,...

Camelot
I.
The wind grew silent, the night... still.
The pagan earth unleashed her blow.
Who could deny, in truth, the nil
Measure of worth wrath would bestow.
A tranquil calm, the vision... spent,
(All memory retained in jest),
To heed the psalm of dreams forewent
That brought to knee both King and Quest.
As if Sanctity could preserve
A chance dared not within her gate.
This enmity I thus reserve,
Untimely lot, to seal her fate.
For what is left of hope that I
Embrace futility, profound?
With all bereft, unto the eye
Of dream...

Transcendence
The willow weeps no more.
The shadow blends with night.
Naught left to answer for,
All in the world seems right.
A whisper on the breeze,
I can't help think your name;
As my soul feels the squeeze—
Will never be the same.
The motion all around me
A still frame in my mind.
For transcendence has bound me
'Another place and time.
I fade from thought and vision.
All essence disappears,
Though the words of rescission
Will not return the years.
