Most Accurate Sentiments
It's too late for a visit
Goodnight then, Snow Angel
With no resolve and no defense
All black and blue and senseless
She suddenly spawned, the next morning,
A most welcoming grin with her body
Of which dimensions I've studied
From the first moment
It was casted upon me, her grace
My hair turned white and thin
While I lied and stared and peered
And gazed and gaped and awed
While she ate my beating heart,
Carved her name onto my chest
And left me there to die
Goodnight then, Snow Angel
With no resolve and no defense
All black and blue and senseless
She suddenly spawned, the next morning,
A most welcoming grin with her body
Of which dimensions I've studied
From the first moment
It was casted upon me, her grace
My hair turned white and thin
While I lied and stared and peered
And gazed and gaped and awed
While she ate my beating heart,
Carved her name onto my chest
And left me there to die

My Lovely Execution
I captured you a while back
In the lens of my camera
Embarrassed by the attention
That moment now in suspension
I printed you the next day
And developed you in darkness
Your look of apprehension
Shows through in two dimensions
I framed you after that
And left you hanging on my wall
Trapped in my possession
Subject to my pretension
You're still there, on my wall
Obviously we aren't the same
As we used to be,
You and me
Even so,
We act each day
Like everything is just OK
Even though
It...

Honey Badger
All he wanted was to be well
To rid of the Honey Badger-like burden
Clinging to his ankles and heart
Doctor Kerouac gave him the diagnosis
And the road was his prescription
She ran from the Rocky Mountains with tears in her eyes
Not without reluctance, to bid goodbye
In order to avoid curse or to drone about "why's"
She left a short letter and left blank the reply
The photo on the dash had faded after a while
The last inkling of home, just like him, in denial
Threw back one last beer and cast it through the aisle
He looked up...

The Einstein About It
She entered the room
And followed her birthly caul
Mysterious was she
Yearning was I, in all
My heartbeat like a march
Employed me, like giving orders
To stand then retreat
And then stand with taut shoulders
We spoke idiomatic English, when we did
Like a high-functioning schizophrenic
I painted us together in my mind
And she was no Different
All of the walls became mirrors
Our faith present and divinity not odd
The Einstein about it was that
Neither of us really believed in god
And followed her birthly caul
Mysterious was she
Yearning was I, in all
My heartbeat like a march
Employed me, like giving orders
To stand then retreat

Nice Dreams
Frightened for no particular reason
I couldn't conjugate the right words
Or the right time to say them
Trying to stay warm in this season
Something lovely only comes in thirds
You're a lotus and I'm just the stem
I shut my eyes and tried
To fast forward to the part when we sleep
Hoping that we'd lie together
To my surprise you came up beside
My excited body and laid next to me
I wish that moment could have lasted forever
I was nervous that you would notice
My heart beating hard against your back
I fell asleep...

Old and Tired
He was articulate in the way
that one is articulate when they are old and tired.
Uh’s and Um’s were abundant in his speech
but was hard to notice when followed by clever,
dated words that his mind-archives had acquired
and stored throughout almost seven decades of life
The words could barely escape
the bearded jowls of the old man, but
when they did, a deep and gentle sound
conscripted a voice - a voice too,
just as old and tired
Mustering, from somewhere deep,
the howls of the earth and superhuman strength, ...

The Mirror (Large Steps)
She hasn’t seen, recently, herself in the mirror
Taking large steps each time
Racing the sun westward each afternoon
With the bees and the trees and unfamiliar things
Dreaming that the night will never come soon
We’ve all heard by now that the days don’t play fair
These days keep one for themselves
She keeps one in her back pocket
Be it brevity or verbosity
We’re bringing shit up constantly
Call it dementia or insanity
I’ll take it back for humanity
I miss when she would stand with me
She used to call me family
Used to be...

Down Valley
Hold on tight to your diamonds and things
When you head down valley
There’s no telling what a lowlife brings
A lowlife like me
Brings and sings and lingerings
Lingering on strings and things
You can choose to let go
When you head down valley
Unleash your whims and live below
Below your woes
Live below your woes and foes
Let go and throw your woes, go slow
The weekdays seem short and flaky
When you head down valley
Just be and stay with me baby
C’mon lady, lets be crazy
Why stay for what maybe may be
C’mon baby,...

The Edge of the World
It became clear
All of the sudden
That I had been walking for some time
The earth had just finished transmogrifying
From asphalt into sand
And then even softer sand
I felt a burning gaze, in the way that one can
Insisting that I adjust my own
There stood you
You were already smiling
As you had already noticed
That I was in your line of sight
The gap that lie between you and I
Was interminable and awkward
So our steps noticeably hastened
But as we proceeded
To walk towards one another
Our partition protracted
...

I Am Sorry But...
I am sorry but
I am running out of things to say
Pauses in phrase
Grow longer each day
And I have grown tired
You aren’t the only one that’s antsy
But you seem to believe
That you’re alone - nobody’s listening
Not trying to be a ‘nancy’ (but)
When will I be swept up off my feet
F’real
It’s getting late and you’re still dancing
Around the point and have me panting
I can’t see why and you just can’t see
I am sorry but
You know that I’m just ranting
I am running out of things to say
Pauses in phrase
Grow longer each day
And I have grown tired
You aren’t the only one that’s antsy
But you seem to believe

I'll Meet You On Mars
It was never enough
We were too brightly minded
Mind you, it was never enough
Straying from your moral compass
You kindly confided
In me… I needed that
We wore peace signs and tried
To stay composed
But you were too angry
Because they promised that we’d have
Hoverboards by now
And taxis to Mars
So we’re stuck here in cars
Enough to fill the interstate
I offered to drive because
I know that you like
To look at the scenery
And shoot passing drivers
With you fingers shaped as a gun
I’m...

Struggling to Console
One day, I swear
I'll know exactly what to say
Unfortunately, by then
You'll already know
I'll know exactly what to say
Unfortunately, by then
You'll already know
