misunderstood person who blends in so well but yet stands out so much. I’m a deep person so I write poetry as a way to put my complicated thoughts on paper.

Overtime in the cake factory
The building was built within me long before I knew the benefits of a relationship
You made it seem from the early stages that you deserved a spot in the cake factory
You stayed consistent & I showed you off anytime I could in any way I could
You earned your bread & brought some of it to the cake factory to keep the relationship exciting
You had the access & I left the keys thinking you’d put in overtime to keep it going
You spent overtime in someone else’s factory tasting their cake
That taste sent you back...

I understood the wrong late text
We spent many nights together but felt so disconnected
You tried to tell me different in text but showed me disrespect in person
I stayed solid before I knew what it meant & you were the last to notice
I cut the strings that pulled us together but left one hanging
I took an emotional beating by choice & without question
I thought you’d nurture the feelings you once stepped on at the end of it
We sent out that late text to meet & when we wanted some kind of loving
I pulled out that latex cause you...

Reverse the tidal wave
Early in the months I saw cracks in us that would eventually lead to an uncivilized split
Thousands of hours were put in just to get you comfortable enough to talk about it
Thousands of hours of just listening to any & everything you had to say respectful or not
I made sure I could meet you in the middle on anything you were serious about
Second chances were given out like free coupons & I became weary of the repeated
lack of care
I chewed & swallowed so much disrespect my next plate fell over...

Surviving through indulgence
We started sharing information bout each other like we were each other’s therapists
We poured out our feelings like we knew what we wanted from the beginning
We laughed at the same things like we understood each other’s sense of humor
With hands interlocked & eyes deadlocked you understood your title before it came
You slipped but made sure when I needed solidarity you gave it like a vision with clarity

Beat me with honesty & fix me with lies
We’ve put years into getting to know each other & I admired your honesty
There were times your brutal honesty brought tears to my eyes
Your became comfortable being brutally honest & spoon fed me this on the daily
I believed your words with no intentions to put in work to make it work
You were always honest when it came to being rude
When’s it came time to show & tell you fixed me up with a blatant lie to my face
You exposed me & now you sit on the receiving end of being brutally honest

I’ve seen so much of you & used to like what I saw cause it came with respect
I’ve tried to show you the important parts of me that would help us grow & cultivate
Each time you only wanted to know the things that made you laugh & feel good

The love we garnered from each other’s families became un breakable
Your family loved me past the relationship & they made sure I knew

Deeper than a tattoo
The closeness shared between us always sparked conversations bout getting tatted
We each had own assortment of tattoos already but we wanted matching
I was a friend to you but I was something more to you
Our ideas became tainted with future plans & I wasn’t prepared for it
I decided not & you decided to go & surprise me with my name
I didnt see the love in your actions & you made it worse
A name cemented on you reminds us of a time where we were most vulnerable but spent the longest time

The best days were in the rain
Before we met each other we both carried battle scars from our past
With barely enough love to give we held our love away from everyone
We seemed to mixed so well in the beginning, no matter what was mixed
I made you cry standing in the rain & you refused to understand why
You felt closer to me when I was in savage mode cause that’s what you were used too
Your consistency got us comfortable being strangers & starving each other with love

I was unaware you were already in love with me, the future came full circle when I was clueless
Previous encounters with you I never remember remained a constant thought & a vow you made to yourself

We started our journey & the road was rocky from the beginning, but you assumed me “it was all good”
