POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
The Machine
Imagine me
As you stand there
The monotony
The beeping machine registers
One, Two, Three
Heartbeats wasted.
Imagine me with you there
In that check-stand you call a job
Hidden behind the waist-high wall
And the thieving machine.
Each customer in their turn
Oblivious to my existence
Would they even care?
I know you care
But that’s because I’m on my knees
My hands snaking up your thighs.
Was it my nail that flashed in those luminous lights
Or was it the button on your slacks?
The customer doesn’t know
And clearly she...

Irises
The pitch and roll of the night time beat
A squeak and a sigh-
Punctuated by a clattering silence
Only your words break the barrier.
Keeping time by the pauses, the spaces
And the clues.
A move and a guess, this game of chess
One step forward and move your bishop to Knight 6.
Sought out in the strange
Untested rhythm of a night-born heart
I find my way
Fearless and fledgling, to the nesting of same.
Curious and comfortable, it’s really quite tempting
Place myself as a spectacle-
Parade myself to gluttony
Let’s hope...

Sub Specie Aeternitatis
Fight for it- isn't this what you wanted?
Aren't you pleased with yourself?
Please, let's be pleasant-
No need, but needing;
Name-calling-
Callous in creation
Conceiving nothing from everything.
You lose your way in it,
Lost to yourself.
What a strip-tease,
Please.
Down indeed,
Drowning in decadence,
Decades from now you're old.
Told, what have you won?
Nothing but the passing glance.
The missing chance.
The effort spent
The days rent.
For nothing.
and yet....

Venom
I’ll snake my way through your veins
Touching every part of you.
Let me put my hands on you
And bury my fangs in your flesh.
Your toxin and your antidote
The morphine that takes you higher
And the pain that brings you crashing down.
You can’t escape my reach.
I’ve been known to spit words
Out of simple spite
Or for my own delight
Listen to me and you’ll understand.
If I want you, I’m sly.
So watch your feet
Because I’ll take to the extremes
Using only the nicest of means.
You can’t beat me, can’t pull away...
Touching every part of you.
Let me put my hands on you
And bury my fangs in your flesh.
Your toxin and your antidote
The morphine that takes you higher
And the pain that brings you crashing down.

Two Hands for the Show
Answer me. Two hands
Please.
Place them for performance, always a
Crowd-pleaser.
Expectant for applause, only to
Pause.
Pacing, panting, pleading
Perfectly.
Still, awaiting the curtains
Closed.
Cold eyes performing acrobatics
Deadly.
Waiting to steal the story of
Glory.
Glorifying, greedy, gluttonous
Stares.
Two hands for the show.
Please.
Place them for performance, always a
Crowd-pleaser.
Expectant for applause, only to
Pause.
Pacing, panting, pleading
Perfectly.
Still, awaiting the curtains
Closed.
Cold eyes performing acrobatics
Deadly.
Waiting to steal the story of
Glory.
Glorifying, greedy, gluttonous
Stares.
Two hands for the show.

Willow Tree
You can't see one for the other.
Draped like willow leaves
She touches the pool below-
Stained by the blue of twilight.
A breeze blown from the South
Shakes the leaves.
They fall into the water,
Silent in their weight.
The ripples neither seen nor heard,
But felt, echoing through
The heart of the hidden.
The earth shakes.
All is still.
Draped like willow leaves
She touches the pool below-
Stained by the blue of twilight.
A breeze blown from the South
Shakes the leaves.
They fall into the water,
Silent in their weight.
The ripples neither seen nor heard,
But felt, echoing through
The heart of the hidden.
The earth shakes.
All is still.
