POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
LadyLoss is who I am when I don't want to be me anymore.
Quitting?
I don't have to even
Think of an excuse.
I just say 'no'.
Don't want you tonight.
You just accept it.
And I suppose, ish.
That's fine with me.
But I think back.
Think back way before.
We ended like this.
When I was counting
Down minutes to you.
But now, you hurt.
Like a knife's twist.
I wish I could
Remember how we ended.
Still together in words,
Apart in all others.
We don't touch anymore.
A perfunctory cheek kiss.
As I walk outside.
I don't feel heartstrings...
Think of an excuse.
I just say 'no'.
Don't want you tonight.
You just accept it.
And I suppose, ish.
That's fine with me.

Duly noted.
A first impression is irreversible,
This much I know to be true.
I'm noticing every way you glance,
Trying to read me, while I talk to you.
I notice you noticing a split lip.
You're probably assuming I got it in a fight.
Wrongly assuming, may I add.
I got it from a passionate night.
I notice you noticing the 'bling' on my wrist.
Are you now thinking I'm really that shallow?
I hate the damn thing in reality, too garish for me.
A present from family, I'm sentimental, so my pride I swallow.
I notice you noticing the scars....

Inadequate.
I look in the mirror, scrutinise, analyse.
Try to see the faults they see with my own eyes.
Try and work out why it's a surprise,
Every time I become one of their lies.
I try to see what is so wrong,
Why I'm kept a secret all along.
Why, I'm nothing in the throng.
The dirtiest secrets I'm kept amongst.
I'm not that bad really, I'm not.
I've made my mistakes, accepted my lot.
Tried to battle with every dark thought.
It's so damn hard when I'm inadequate.
I'm romantic, I'm soppy, I'm perfectly nice.
Try not to hurt...
Try to see the faults they see with my own eyes.
Try and work out why it's a surprise,
Every time I become one of their lies.

Faceless Anonymity
Faceless anonymity,
Is exactly what she needs.
Faceless, left alone,
Left alone to bleed.
Drips of pure release,
Bleeding the toxins out of veins.
Drips of self loathing,
Leaving dark red stains.
A faceless person,
In an empty room,
Thinking of the ways
She's been repeatedly screwed.
Screwed up, fucked up,
Completely out of luck.
'friends' are always there.
She couldn't give a fuck.
They stand over her,
Controlling her heart,
Just as she thinks it's all going right,
She rips her...

Sleep deprivation
Do you know, I can't remember,
The last time I got a full night's sleep?
Whiskey saturated passing out,
Is different to a slumbering deep.
It must have happened at some point.
I didn't always have nightmares.
I don't count sheep, I try and work out,
Hours sleep in the last couple of years.
It's not like I need sleep,
I've survived the last decade.
That's it, about ten years,
Since I last dealt in the snoozing trade.
I catch 15 winks if I'm lucky,
I only ever rest my eyes.
Inspect the inside of my eyelids, ...

My reason for being
I've belonged in so many places,
Yet none of them have been home.
Belonging at his side, between her thighs,
Holding her hand as she sobs and moans.
I've been in the right place, a lot,
But always at the wrong time.
Telling lies, distracting from lonely eyes,
Living life as if it were a well acted mime.
I've uttered empty words to get what I want.
Muttered false truths to learn.
'i do like you, baby', 'you'll hurt me, maybe'
And denied myself a love to earn.

With the worst types of...

For you
Just once in a while,
Think of me.
Just once in a while, think of us.
Think of what we could have been.
This is short and sweet,
Straight to the point.
I'd never leave you alone.
If you were with me.
Please. Think of us.
If I call myself Lola, will you understand?
Nothing ever felt so right,
As the pull of your hand.
Think of me.
Just once in a while, think of us.
Think of what we could have been.

Come here
Come here, sit down,
Let's talk how we used to.
Come here, next to me,
Remember it's only us.
Come here, kiss me,
Make things right again,
Come here, please baby,
Be my best friend.
Come here, love me,
Like you used to.
Come here, smile.
Smile like I make you happy.
Come here, remember,
How I used to make you feel.
Come here, let's work it out.
Life without you is unreal.
Come here, but go away,
Learn to miss me again.
Come here, let me fix it.
I missed you while you were there. ...

I wish.
I wish I could see the man I love,
Instead of the one that breaks my heart.
The one I loved from the first kiss,
The one I wanted forever from the start.
I wish I could still see who you used to be,
Instead of what you are right now.
The man who won't tell me he loves me,
You put up with me, I don't know how.
I wish we were still what we used to be,
After the rose tinted glasses wore off,
I wish I still knew how to love you,
I wish I knew how to be enough.
I wish I hadn't spent the last year,
Mindlessly papering...
Instead of the one that breaks my heart.
The one I loved from the first kiss,
The one I wanted forever from the start.
I wish I could still see who you used to be,

December
It's so hard to start a conversation,
When you've got nothing to say.
So hard to talk to someone,
When you feel them drifting away.
You try and remind them of old memories,
But they just don't remember.
So hard to remind them of what you once shared,
Your friendship's in its December.
The trees are bare of leaves once so green.
The ground is uncertain beneath your feet.
The colder days seem closer to sub zero,
With the friend, now a rare treat.
You see your friend and things have changed,
You don't...

What do you see?
What do you see, when you sidle along,
Sit next to her in a bar, when she's sitting alone.
She may turn and smile, make a few offhand comments,
But her attention isn't and won't be yours.
She would ask you what you see, if she didn't already know.
A girl, verging on woman, yours for the taking,
If you ply her with enough booze.
It's her weakness, nothing to be proud of, she knows.
What do you see in her eyes, anything there?
If you looked hard enough, you could see what she's thinking.
It's not difficult to guess, a story of...

Consolation Prize
You love my words,
But hate their meanings,
Love my lies,
But not my feelings,
Hate my tears,
But not the reasons,
Time won't change you,
With the seasons.
You love my body,
Not my heart,
You don't know,
I'm falling apart,
You don't need me,
Living life through lies
I'll disappear,
My consolation prize.
I'll always remember,
That one time.
That one time,
When you were mine.
I'll bite my lip,
And close my eyes.
Your kiss will be there,
My consolation prize.
