I don’t
I do not want
your path
to be tied to mine
I do not covet a ring
I do not need
To be your next bride
Nor do i want to be
one of your exes
I will not bribe
you to stay
Or look
for the nearest exit
I like our freedom
I’m not looking
for the next fling
And no, I am not a feminist
Looking for her equal
I believe in the differences
between the sexes
In fact
a man’s touch
has no match
It can leave you intact ...
your path
to be tied to mine

The Sisters Alvarado
I’m down memory lane…
That path is full of dead ends
& painful scars
that time can’t heal!
The sisters I thought I’d always have
but lost to life!
They’re in so many songs
that make me cry!!!
They are gone
with no future memories
to come!!!
The end happened years ago
but I can’t let go!
I have few people I truly loved
and my sisters are the only reason
I fought to survive…
Now I go on without them…
The common problem that united us
became the person that separates us…
It hurts...
That path is full of dead ends
& painful scars
that time can’t heal!
The sisters I thought I’d always have
but lost to life!
They’re in so many songs
that make me cry!!!
They are gone
with no future memories
to come!!!
The end happened years ago
but I can’t let go!
I have few people I truly loved
and my sisters are the only reason
I fought to survive…
Now I go on without them…

i have elevated you
so high
that when this
is over
i will be the one
they criticize
they will never know
what pain you caused
the torment
in every tear
that i have ever cried
how alone i really am
no one will ever know
that you were less
than a perfect man
i talked you up
because i truly believed
that was who you were
did not realize
that version
was only for her...

OBSERVATIONAL POEM

Empath
Suddenly
I am overcome
by an inexplicable
sadness.
(Can’t speak of it…
it would be misconstrued as madness.)
My light
gets dimmed
almost
to complete
darkness…
I do not understand
how emptiness can be so full,
leaving no room.
I do not understand
how silence can be,
so deafening.
I play a happy tune
but it buries me
deeper into gloom!
I surround myself
with company
but I have gotten
so good at hiding,
they can’t see
the storm...
I am overcome

Deadly Thoughts
Me: tell them. They need to know you're depressed.
Depression: don't tell them. You're only going to get more depressed when you realize they don't care. Better fight it alone.
Reason: you may win a lot of battles against depression but you won't win them all.
Me: I'm strong enough.
Depression: I am patient. I only need to win one battle.

You wanted her so bad
You were willing to break my heart
I loved you enough to let you
I am with the man I wanted
A man that never wanted me
None of it works...
Being with someone YOU love -
Does not work
Being with someone that LOVES you -
Does not work
LOVE requires PERFECT timing

I convinced myself
That you stayed
Because you wanted
To be with me
I stayed too
Believing that love
Swayed you
Even though you never
Said it
Because actions
Speak LOUDER
Than words
But you have been looking
In all sorts of places
Your eyes are set
In someone other than me
You just have not found
My replacement

I should leave
But I stay
I want to see it through
I want you
To face my pain
I know
What people will say

Goodbye My Love
I have been fighting back tears all day!
I have to go on
pushing through the pieces
of my broken heart
to find the beating one!!
I have no more excuses
you’ve taken away so much
there is nothing left.
My feelings are distorted
but one remains clear
I no longer feel fear.
My tears will soon catch up to my pain.
For now I have to maintain my strength!
I’ll face it alone
I’ve done it before
I’ll do it again!
I don’t have the luxury
to lay down and die
over a man!
I never thought ...
I have to go on

Amor a primera sonrisa / love at the first smile
Desde que te conocí
me prometí
que solo eras para divertir.
Te empecé a dejar
desde el primer encuentro.
Te empecé a olvidar
desde el primer recuerdo.
Años después
no te he dejado
no te e olvidado.
Aunque quiera no puedo
porqué de ti me e enamorado.
No puedo evitarlo!
Desde el primer encuentro…
tus labios no me avían besado
tus manos no me avían tocado
pero tu sonrisa encontró la mía
desde entonces no concibo
un solo instante sin ti…
me hace daño amarte
pero estoy feliz...

Te busqué en los verbos
y te encontré en las mentirás
Nunca te ví a ciegas
pero aun con los ojos abiertos
y a sabiendas que me ibas a doler

Unforgiving Pain
I have overcome the pain!
…so I thought
Until that song is played again.
I find a knot building up in my throat,
as I skip through the notes.
I can’t fast forward the memory,
It’s dug in…
At this point
I can’t retreat!
The song isn’t playing,
but my suffering is on repeat!
I don’t understand why
cause
I’m out of love with him…
Why can’t I fall out of the hurt?
I guess pain stays
long after
love is gone!!!
