My Addiction
My heart is beating loud like someone playing a bongo
somewhere in the jungles of the Congo
I am hungry like a lion who is looking to feed
and it's you baby I need
This pain is coming again and again like a wave
and it is you I crave
You are my addiction
my mental and physical affliction
My mind is ablaze
and you are my malaise
I am feeling fatigue
like throwing 120 pitches in the Major League
All I need to energize

I am Jealous
Of your bed
I wish it were me instead
Of the water from your shower
I wish I could touch your body at any hour
Of the sun that shines on your face
I wish I could take it's place
Of the air
because it gets to play in you hair
Of the full moon
because on a hot August night I too want to make your heart swoon
Of the stars
because they grab your attention like a gymnast on the parallel bars

Ex-Talk Show Host
I opened my listeners perceptual doors
With the use of well placed metaphors
I used Similes like a knife in the hands of a Chef
Or as Classical Composers used a treble clef
We argued subjects like the one that brought Al Gore glory
And concepts like the use of allegory
Occasionally I used an artful alliteration
While debating debauchery and debasement within our nation
My energy was high like Psy dancing gangnam style
Looking back over the years and 500 plus shows I smile
Like an old prize fighter past his prime...

Words
Words are the ultimate tool
but, a dangerous weapon in the hands of a fool
They can motivate a person to kill
or give a love one a thrill
America’s forefathers they did inspire
to lay the foundation for our empire
The Romance period poets used them to fill our hearts with desire
and the in minds of Kerouac and Burroughs they fueled a fire
They are the lyrics of many a song
played on the radio all day long
A priceless precious pearl
in a letter to a homesick boy or girl
As you can see
they are a gift from GOD to me

My Rose of Sharon
Spellbound by the twilight at sunset over the Pacific Ocean
true love is such a powerful emotion
Walking on the wet warm sand
while holding on to each others hand
The waves keeping time with the beating of my heart
when one would end another one would start
It was a magical time
we were in sync with life’s rhythm and rhyme
Those days were picture postcard perfect
glorious in every aspect
Every night was exciting as the 4th of July
the look in your eye was as dazzling as fireworks in the sky

Sleep Walking
Day after day I made it through
doing the things I normally do
Watched the Sun's morning light
and the glow of the Moon at night
But, then I noticed in the world things were not right
so I vowed to put up at fight
50 years later I am still in the ring
do my social justice thing
About the "Good Fight" I am always talking
and forgot there was ever a time that I was-Sleep Walking

An Ode To Your Eyes
An Ode to your eyes
filled with wonder and surprise
Kudos to their designer
because they are deep enough to float an ocean liner
Large, beautiful and round are their size
the perfect compliment to their owner who is wise
A high definition window to your soul
that is eons old
Haunting like King Hamlet’s ghost in Shakespeare’s play
such strength and power they convey
Their heavenly like an opera sung by Angels
about metaphysical fables
They glow like a full moon on a hot August night
and overwhelm my mind...
filled with wonder and surprise

Some days you feel great
if just one time up can pick up a hard eight
On other days you feel like you are in heaven
because every roll comes up 7 or 11
