POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I have a fondness for narrative verse --narrative poets such as Chaucer, Coleridge, Longfellow, Tennyson, Burns, Noyes, Lear, Nash, Carroll, D'Arcy, Kipling, Moore, and Service. The stories they tell are good and made better by the poetic form they use.
alone in a public place
sitting on a bench, watching them
alone in a public place
her legs over his
his arm around her
their hands laced together
eyes seeing only each other
a quick kiss
soft words unheard by watchers
another quick kiss
she smiles
her head nods
and another quick kiss
more whispered words
a near-silent giggle
she turns into him
a much longer kiss
pull tighter together
then apart
hands still clasped
he stands

flowers and a diner invitation
they arrived separately, with friends (guy group and girly girls)
saw each other across the crowded room (isn't that the usual way?)
flirted (of course)
gemini, twins? (trite)
both! (June 8, June 10)
laughs came easily (drawn together, meant for each other?)
double, double (with a wink and a smile)
four ways to couple (answered with a grin)
more than a one night stand's worth (Shall we fill a weekend's moments?)
left together (hands clasped, fingers woven)
she drove (working the pedals forced her skirt...

awkward moment
that second in time,
between last sock removed,
and moving to the turned back bed
stripped bare of modesty's clothing
intoxicated on hormone driven yearning,
blushing with forgotten inhibition,
flushed with embarrassment,
glistening with perspiration,
glowing with arousal
coy about looking eye to eye,
shy about what the other sees,
wary about your body's imperfections,
wondering,
should the lights have been off?
not knowing what to say,
saying much by saying nothing,

Comfort sex
There are moments when
what you need
is
comfort sex.
No strings.
With a friend who understands.
accepts you as you are,
right then and there,
no questions asked.
Someone who reaches for you,
gathers you in.
Someone who will,
take,
accept,
enjoy,
and return your offer with,
interest.
Someone whose body,
will pleasure you,
and
be pleasured by you.
Someone who will,
take you in,
hold you in,
hug you...

Sorry
So, you want me to say --
"I'm sorry that I wrote about you in my poem."
OK. I guess I owe you that.
Maybe more.
I admit it was you,
I was thinking of,
when I wrote it.
Admittedly, it was your mouth,
I was picturing,
covering with my mouth,
your tongue,
my tongue was playing with.
Yes, it was your legs,
I was writing about,
caressing with my hands,
entwining with my legs.

When last I saw you
We parted with a pat from me on your butt
and a kiss from you on my cheek.
I expected more than that kiss then,
and, bluntly, I expected more now than,
"What do I think of the weather?"
Because, frankly, it's a bit chilly.
No, I didn't get around to fixing your internet access.
Something else came up.
If you remember.
Still can't access the internet,
and you want me to come by
and see what I can do?
Is the broadband box still on the top shelf?
You remember what happened
when I tried to reach...

no coffee for me
Saturday morning's 10,000 step exercising walk.
Cool out,
not cold,
with a hope for heat a few steps ahead.
Dressed in sweats,
shoes with no socks,
quick to remove.
Already firm,
remembering walks before.
Paper on the walk, taken to the door, and more.
Thanked on the floor, on the sofa, against the wall, and more.
Fingers fondling.
Hands holding.
Mouths milking.
Tongues tasting.
Teeth toying.
Bodies bending.

I'll tell you
I'll tell you what you were.
You were a notch on my bed post,
locker room bragging rights.
You were a cunt to receive my dick,
a receiver of my wet dream's emissions.
You were a blonde to follow the redhead,
not as good as the brunet.
You were way too short, barely up to my chin,
not fun size at all.
Your boobs were so small, most boys have more,
couldn't fill a training bra.
You were skinny, arms bony and legs gangly,
all skeletal angles...

at Lucky's
OK.
See.
This is what happened.
I was in the Lucky Store.
Jeans shopping.
Overheard these two girls,
store employees,
chatting,
giggling,
pointing with their eyes.
Whispered one,
"Baggy boxers."
Retorted the other,
"Nah, tighty whities."
Looked around.
I'm the only customer.
Said I,
"What does the winner win?"
"And what does the loser give up?"
Said 'Baggy Boxers',

She was a witch
I'd known she was a witch from the second day of our acquaintance.
(We met via an online older men and younger women dating site.)
We'd been online friends for more than a decade.
She was divorced, I was in a sexless marriage.
Yes, there had been online sex--

Double strip
Of course I'm looking,
isn't that's why you wear that push-up bra?
Sure,
I saw you look too,
no,
it's not padded with a sock.
If you would bend over just a bit,
I would have a much better view.
Now squeeze them together,
just a little more;
very nice nipple show.
Thank you.
Yes,
they make a "push-up" for a guy to wear.
I saw
your eyes go there
just like mine go where they go.
How much is "pushed-up"?
Same question back at you.

Great man, behind a great woman
Great man, behind a great woman
we'd been acquainted for a while
not friends, really
just said "Hi" in passing on campus
sometimes "Nice weather today."
or "Saw a great movie last weekend."
not really friendship
she was money
her kids attended the school
15 grand a year each
she had 4 enrolled
I was a school employee
their tuition bill was more than my salary
she was 6 foot several inches
blond hair, tanned...
