POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
The beginning of time
I have known you since the beginning of time,
Our souls like lovers fully entwined
How could it be that in such a way
Wholly incomplete that which I say
For you know it all, my heart and my pain
Drive the spike deep with utter disdain
Thorns and thistles you do liberally sow
Then salt it fully so nothing will grow
Watered with tears, bitter yet true
And now at last you have your due
For nothing at all will be so sublime
As love that dies with the beginning of time
Our souls like lovers fully entwined
How could it be that in such a way
Wholly incomplete that which I say
For you know it all, my heart and my pain
Drive the spike deep with utter disdain
Thorns and thistles you do liberally sow
Then salt it fully so nothing will grow
Watered with tears, bitter yet true
And now at last you have your due
For nothing at all will be so sublime
As love that dies with the beginning of time

Advice for a Bear
Today you take your first steps, into the world my dove,
Let me share with you, my thoughts, and meager grasp of love.
All throughout the ages, sonnets have fed us pretty lies
Lazily they have sung a tale of happy butterflies
Of painted sunsets rose, and brilliant mornings gold
That, the greatest art of love, is beauty to behold.
Love is contradiction dear, understanding, maddening at best
It can be both hot and cool, starkly serious in its jest
In truth, even though love can at times be stormy and wild
It should, at the heart, be sweet and tender, my...

Just a man
You’re just a man, I can replace
no anger on her placid face
the words alone were merely fact
Why does the obvious, require tact?
I said, I love you over all the earth
And in a thought you dismiss my worth.
How can you think, to act, or plan
When you find out you are just a man.
through the years I looked for peace
And yet the doubt fails to cease
Sought to give you all you need
Yet still it fails to do the deed
In your eyes, I cannot not see
what for you I need to be
So alone, in the world I stand
Because to you, I am just a...

Oliver
On the day I started, my soul was ragged, torn.
All my thoughts laid bare to you, on the day they’re born.
Words can have the power, to just get in the way.
Keeping things all bottled up, not knowing what to say.
Even more they have the strength, to open hearts and minds
To delve into your core, surprised at what one finds.
Let thoughts be harbingers of both joy and pain.
Let love and life come from both, then you’ve found the gain.
That’s the lesson taught me, one not learned before.
I go and grab a bowl, because I’d really like some more.

I’m the curse within your eyes, when you fall asleep.
I am the want of your soul, the one that runs too deep.
Now you come and speak to me, fanning bright the flame.
Then you leave as before, a need without a name.
So walk, NO! RUN AWAY! Burn that bridge once more.
But you will be crawling back, welcome to my door.
I’m the balm to ease the pain, of your hopeless fate
The drug you use to give you joy, one you chose to hate.
A monsters how you see me, from a slanted view
Reality is too harsh a thing, don’t accept what’s true ...

The Mirror Lies
Tell me friend what do you see?
What is your root of uncertainty?
A troubled past? A wounded pride?
What forces you to draw inside?
A distorted view before your eyes,
Don’t you know? The mirror lies.
Day by day you start anew,
Unable to see a different view.
Why would you try to heal your heart?
When you’ve no clue, quite where to start.
So, with each mask, a new disguise.
You can not believe, the mirror lies.
When you refuse your love in all.
Your soul takes on a ghostly pall
Every challenge seems too rough ...

Secrets and Lies
Secrets and Lies
At days end this journey begins, alone now here are we two.
Looking to each other, for something simple, shiny, and new
Want as deep as the night, gilded in silver and black.
Hoping to find together, separate that which we lack
Longing for more than a touch, wanting to feel complete
Hope is in finding another, with needs as equally sweet
So lounge in your darkest of passions, savor your sweetest desire
Share them now and come with me, dancing into the fire.
Sway now my lovely companion, join me here in the flame. ...

The Tempest
A Tempest came, and while I slept, it eagerly destroyed
the illusions that had held me fast, showing me the void
An emptiness I didnt know, had crept within me deep
the deluge rightly exposed what I had neglected in my sleep
Careworn timbers that once right and true would have kept the maelstrom at bay
buckled once tested easily, dry rotted, and weakened with decay
with tearstained eyes, I look upon the the wreckage, I had once adored
and realize that, with quite some work, it must be now restored
with heavy heart I know new beams must be hewn and shorn
and...

Sleep
Sleep with me now, even though we’re apart,
Distance means nothing to the open heart.
So dream with me now, you in your bed,
Even though I’m away, thoughts of you fill my head.
At this new beginning what will we be?
Will you stay in your cage, or set yourself free?
What will it become, this shiny new pearl?
Like the bud of a rose, we watch it gently unfurl.
So, come join me now, by Morpheus’ Throne
Let go of your fear, and banish alone.
Make her tremble before you, show her, her place
Tell her now, not to lift up her face.
For...

Alone
With a kiss and promise true
You swore to me and I to you
Veil and dress of abalone
You said I’d never be alone.
This house we made bustles with noise
Shouts and laughs of life and its joys
Amidst this all my heart of stone
Why do I feel so all alone?
Even here with the life we made
I thought our love would give us shade
It’s heartbreak though, that I do own
How could you leave me all alone?
You give so much to those outside
But from me you run and hide
In your actions your heart is shown
Even with...
