cigarettes & lighters
As she fumbled through her satchel
with her paint chipped fingers
Looking for a light to her cigarette
A man approached her
Blond hair
and cocaine eyes
asking for a light
Stirred but not shaken
she fumbled until she found her favorite bic
as she handed it to him
she heard soothing in him
as he said thank you ma'am
A tattooed southern
Intoxicated gentleman
Eyes piercing to her soul
a moment of attraction
as he cracked an honest smile at her
she smiled back
both silently...

Soul clinging
good but can be deadly
without you knowing
you can fall in love instantly
Unexpectly expecting
cling cling cling
that's familiarity
emotionally unorganized
setting up for a big surprise
Instead follow intuition
protect most valued prize
Your spirit
clean out what you secretly hide
for they take control
Moving from prey to host
Stabilizing emotions
Testing those spirits
wisdom to see which ones are dead or still living

hidden behind a smile
Who told me to smile
and to keep smiling
even though inwardly
I'm on empty
whats left wolves have feasted
In pain I ache
But I keep smiling
to give hope to the same ones killing me
what type of living is this
self sacrificing
Maybe I will be healed in the next life
With a daddy that says I love you
And the rest of a happy family
And provides peace love
and real family

Young man walking down the street
His melanin made him guilty
Some say don't make it a black thing
Reality is right in your face
Racial profiling cannot be denied
