Digging Deeper
Sometimes I wield words like weapons without awareness
And wildly wave them about, careless
Like a madman with a flail
I throw on some chainmail
Foaming at the mouth
Looking burly, quite rabid
Survivors can vouch
I'm a creature of habit
I gnaw on the bones
Of that corpse on the couch
I saw off the toes
No remorse for the slouch
He deserved to die alone
"Encore!!", I shout
The gore show must go on
To entertain me 'til I'm gone ...
And wildly wave them about, careless

I Swear, I Didn't Know She Was A Succubus!
With a heavy heart to offer
It's time to tip the scales
Think I'm ready, start to sever
I don't mind, sadist impales
Hands steady, as you impart forever
No forgetting, scars are a love letter
You call me "Mine"
As your lips artfully assail
Laugh at my cries
Flesh rips as you ignore my helpless wails
Light leaves my eyes
Sip listlessly my blood that fills your grail
My body lies
Yet soul resists your pull to no avail
I'm trapped inside
Just nourishment, hope you enjoyed the meal ...
It's time to tip the scales

Knock Me Down
I know all about defeat
And losing it all
Start from the beginning
Go from a walk to a crawl
All hard work erased
Time spent, thrown away
Can't be taken back
So I reflect on the past
On what I might have learned
That will help to stand again
When history returns,
Mistakes repeated, how they've burned
A hole through my ego,
Thrashed my narcissism
Left in tatters on the sidewalk
To be stepped on, tight in rhythm
Like a metronome, clock is ticking
Wind blows, shreds are...
And losing it all

Aged Agony
How did I ever stray so far
From the pain that fueled my thoughts so dark
The muses of my past left in a museum
In a corner, battles fought where no one will ever see them
I avoid looking back, but it's no good to pretend
That there's no chance of falling into the same trends
A life built on patterns
Cold as the rings of Saturn
So distant, letting no one near
To hear the voices that I fear
Inside my head they're softly ringing
Getting louder as they're singing
Haunting ghosts of my upbringing

Can you feel that evil spreading?
I hope you are not regretting
Summoning this demon, dreading
Now it is too late for fretting
Close your eyes and look inside
Feel sickness that will never die
Watch as it multiplies galore
Fiendishly it thirsts for more
You're lying to yourself
Embrace the dark inside that swells
Welcome to your own hell
Your secret's safe, I'll never tell
Once more you delve within
Let yourself get lost in sin
That which hides beneath the skin ...

Not a Hero
I keep them hidden from you all, my darkest of secrets
For if they were to be revealed, there'd be nothing but regrets
Until you learn what it's like to swim in the deep end
No more on those floaties will you be able to depend
You'll need to learn to dive and swim, or you'll never defend
Against darkness beneath the surface, you will drown if you pretend
No lifeguard is available, that would be a godsend
No one to protect you if you bow or break or bend
I'm busy with my own life, I don't have a hand to...

Slither to your resting place
You vile, lying, thieving snake
I know you knew what was at stake
Yet you still threw it all away
As if you had not a care in the world
Now you really have none, into abyss hurled
You are the silhouette that I see on the horizon
Growing closer, I can feel your grip begin tighten

Who Needs Inspiration Anyway?
Once again I find myself staring at a blank page
This creative block has my mind is stuck in a cage
I try to pick the lock, let the beast out of this pen
As I begin to scribble it's like I lose myself again
Going insane from all these rambles
That've left my brain in shambles
I light this flame up like a candle
Paint colorful words just like a vandal
I check the dictionary where they're ample to sample
But I'm not out of the woods yet, still cutting through all these brambles
...

Now I've been captivated, no desire to be set free

A Black Cat With Wings
So there I was at work, straightening out cards and letters
Happy birthdays, get well soons, I hope you feel betters
As I was passing by
There was one that caught my eye
Made me stop dead in my tracks
Lost in flashbacks
"Your cat was so lucky to have a friend like you"
I shook my head and thought "That isn't true"
There on the cover was a black cat with wings
And a halo, and for a brief moment it was comforting
Until I recalled how you were left to be neglected
