Clever creature with wisdom

Dip your toes in the
Tide pools of temptation

Bring me a strong hand
And a sizzling passion

Remember when we spoke
To each other in accents
Both divine and profane
A comedy of voices in mischief
Remember days spent in
Words and songs pouring

Love is a land
Of chancers and cheats
Of black memories
And the lingering
Smell of smoke
From doused passion
It binds you hand and foot
And breaks you on its wheel

And the librarian kept
Ordering us to be quiet
So we found a spot
In the stacks free

Of paper and string
Carefully crafted with
Hours of patience
I gave you my virtue
Surrendering the one thing
Only a woman can give
Into unsteady hands
I bought it all

The love and the dream
The madness and the mayhem
I imagined nights
Lying in bed and laughing
