Mental...
Mental...
Tell me you can you hear it…
That you can hear the noise…
Just beneath life’s surface…
Just loud enough to annoy…
It’s been there for hours…
It’s been there for days…
Now I come to think of it…
It has been there always…
For as long as I remember…
An eerie underlying sound…
Like a dim distant drummer…
Marching round and round…
And now it’s getting louder…
It beats in time with my heart…
I hear it though the daytime…
It haunts me in the dark…
And leaves me quietly longing…...

Clarity...
The deafening silence
Those futile gestures
They trample feelings
While bitterness festers
As it’s happened before
Now it’s started again
And the instant replay
Brings instant pain
Whilst descending clouds
Of opposite thoughts
Bring feelings of anger
Pointing out all the faults
But with tension mounting
And each anxiety attack
Those beautiful memories
Now fade into black
As the cigarette burns
It’s spinning out of control
With a broken spirit
And a battered soul
...

Out of her mind...
The drink in her hand
Her back against the wall
He pins her so robustly
Her defences quickly fall
Her head feels so light
Her world begins to spin
Her legs turn to jelly
As she breathes him all in
She knows it’s not right
But doesn’t really care
She wants him to touch her
And undo her underwear
Whilst taking her to places
That she has seldom been
Where the Devil takes over
And fills her soul with sin
She needs him inside her
Right here and right now
She lets him have control...

Remember...
Remember, remember, remember
It’s harder than you think
A lonely dark night in November
Distraction began with a drink
Always trying to look forward
Forever chained to the past
Memories totally alcohol blurred
Actions that happened so fast
Eye
Fly
High
He always liked to watch
It’s what he once believed
Swallow another scotch
It numbed as he deceived
Trying hard to stay in control

She used to read his words
And loved what she saw
They nestled within her soul
They left her craving more
As when she closed her eyes
He was able to transport her
Into a faraway dimension
Where she became a voyeur
And began living life vicariously
Floating across time and space
Feeling each and every word
Brush against her own sweet face
She recognised the characters
The universal themes hit home
She felt he wrote about her life
Even though she was unknown
She felt a real connection
She...
And loved what she saw

Hidden...
She searches the darkness
For some kind of sign
Looking for something
To forgive all her crimes
Always missing the point
And still crossing the line
Never really expressing
What’s hidden deep inside
Or ever letting them see
The times she has cried
The mistakes she’s made
All the times she’s lied
And one of these days
She may well understand
As the minutes pass by
And the hourglass sand
Slowly ebbs away
Merging into years
Stealing her youth
And increasing her fears
...
For some kind of sign
Looking for something
To forgive all her crimes

Never really expressing
