POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
My education and work experiences revolved around mathematical figures and computations. Never in my life did I imagine that I could write beautiful poetry; one that comes from the heart. "The Fire Within" is my first published book.
NATURE'S SYMPHONY
Nature’s own way of harmony
is a perfect blend of symphony—
the chirping birds’ duet
with the cascading waterfalls
in perfect rhythm
with my heartbeats,
as I watch the wildflowers
listen to the musical breeze.
Sounds of thunder
echo in my dreams
Your silent prayers
awaken my soul
from deep slumber
only to find out
you have a murmuring heart…
a pin drop broke the silence.
Listen to the howling of winds
as the wolves cry in unison

STREET SHARKS
Pack of wolves
in designer suits
shed the same skins
with their counterparts.
Beware of their sweet tongues
that could lead your life
into financial wilderness
and sea of confusion.
Promise of heaven on earth—
one that you could only imagine
beyond your wildest imaginations,
beyond reality.
Disciples of the beast
playing God
with your hard-earned cash;
they will suck you in
and vomit in hell.
Bulls and bears—
trademarks of the Devil
make you rich on paper,
but strip you naked
when the day is done.

INKED IN BLOOD
self-expression of art
tattoos come in many forms
adorning one’s body
old tribal rituals
images of dragons and snakes
just to name a few
they were inked in blood
reminders of someone’s pride
somebody begs to differ
shadows of the past
keep hovering in the present
haunting him in dreams
names of dead targets
clearly etched on his skin
reminders of evil deeds

POETIC LICENSE
Poetic words of love and wisdom
Spread throughout my kingdom
Although a critic says I'm an amateur
I refuse to the rule of pedantic culture
Casting a spell of grammarian's doom
We are now on the cutting edge of technology
Where the imagination is not limited to biology
Confining oneself within a form and structure
Only limits creativity, stark naked in the future
Keep an open mind, immerse yourself in theology
As an engineer I like to think outside the box
And as a poet, I'm witty as a quick desert fox
I like my poems to...

SMALL REQUEST
I’m like a trash in the middle of the road
Orphan without a kin, loitering on the streets
My house is a concrete jungle
With the cloud as its roof—the ground, its floor
When I’m exhausted from the daily grind
I play in your beautiful shorelines
Your playful waves serve as my hammock
Even for a moment, providing a good respite
It’s such a pleasure to listen to the sounds of nature
A music so sweet, can’t be matched by any culture
The chirping of bird in synch with the soft breeze
Gives joy to my heart and unequivocal gladness

DYING WISH IN LOST PARADISE
Amidst the howling of mighty winds,
heavy downpour of torrential rains—
flash floods and storm surge,
I could hear the frantic cries of a mother
trying to save her newly born child
from drowning,
as her house was swept off
by the raging waters.
Desperate cries for help--
both old and young alike
reverberated in my ears
before I finally lost consciousness
while clinging
to a piece of broken rafter.
The scorching heat of the tropical sun
awakens me from a deep slumber
thinking I’m having a nightmare— ...

The Deaf: An Eye Opener
On June 15, 2013 we went to a fund-raising campaign and awarding of scholarships to deserving students by High Bridge Foundation, Inc. held in Gallaudet University, Washington DC.
Since Gallaudet was mentioned by Indi Robinson, a fellow poet here, I became curious about it, and did a little research. Gallaudet University is a federally chartered university for the education of the deaf and hard of hearing located in Washington, DC. It was the first school for the advanced education of the deaf and hard of hearing in the world, and is still the only higher education institution...

Caged Freedom
(Shattered Dreams)
How wonderful it is
to see the birds flying freely,
as they start to migrate
Put them in a cage
they will cry and eventually die
How much more—those dainty people,
oppressed and tongue-tied
caught within a gossamer
of lies and deceit,
shackled to their dreams,
prisoners within…
Don’t you think they wish
they were the birds?
What happens when their dreams
are shattered and their hope is gone?
Lost lives of loved ones,
are they not enough?
To sacrifice one’s life
over prolonged...

The Silent Witness
Ephemeral wildflowers covered the fields:
asters, goldenrods and black-eyed susans -
a mosaic of colors on the landscape
like paint on canvas – a wonderful sight
trampled upon by men with guns
and horse-drawn artilleries from both
the Confederate and Union troops
Soon the largest battle ever fought
during the civil war ensued,
for three unrelenting days, it lasted
Thousands have died, got wounded,
and thousands more were missing…
Thousands of bodies lay blackened,
bloated and festering under the July sun...
