POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Poetry is my voice for change. I have 12 kids with my husband of 22 years. The poetry I write comes from books, movies, and most of all, from my life. Finally squeezed out of me by my nature like a long held breath.
Green Orphan
Green grass, spring at the stable
I will help you if I am able
Just as green as the spring hills
Are my fledgling working skills
Orphaned girl working hard
I'll gladly fork hay in the yard
I know you need a child strong as a horse
But a willing little girl is not much worse
You are not young but while you are strong
I want to learn to help you both along
I don't want to be all alone
To cultivate a heart of stone
My mind is giddy, running wild
A highly imaginative child
You have the power to tame me
But please don't...

Are my fledgling working skills
Orphaned girl working hard
I'll gladly fork hay in the yard
I know you need a child strong as a horse
But a willing little girl is not much worse

My mind is giddy, running wild

Riverbank Mud
Washed in by a flood
Like a boat in the trees
Red riverbank mud
And the demons he flees
Below swaying boat
Burned by love's desire
Yet dreams stay afloat
Beside his bonfire
Young teens out to play
Turn adventure to discovery
Find love in their day
From such surprise is no recovery
Must take the boat to mudbank
Confounding innocence
By the deepest needs so frank
Coals of elder wisdom
Salted words boxing the ears
Discard cries for freedom
Concretizing their own fears
Yet young desires drive on ...

Shattered
Dimly lit in memory
Tiny glass fragments
Once were a menagerie
Festering sentiments
Shattered the fragile peace
Delicate hopes held in vain
Songs played that would soon cease
Delusions covering pain
First was the slamming door
Then unfettered tears fell
Next the dance on the floor
That broke the unicorn's spell
It could rejoin the herd
But was given away
A token of the absurd
Things went unspoken
Until the final quake
Then all were broken
As well did the circle break
I still hear the music...

Colors
Like a flashing sunset
Or likewise a sunrise
This moment by your side
Everything is glowing
This setting comes alive
Like a light, scattered rain
A summer sprinkler’s bow
The colors show again
Linked with you at elbow
You make me feel alive
Like a jewel’s prism
Or sparkling crystal vase
Your own luminism
Colors my inner space
Eternally alive
Or likewise a sunrise
This moment by your side
Everything is glowing
This setting comes alive
Like a light, scattered rain
A summer sprinkler’s bow
The colors show again
Linked with you at elbow
You make me feel alive

Eyes Shut
A boy loves a girl
But she doesn't know it
He’d give her the world
And he wants to show it
Her mind’s eye sees a cloud of dirt
In the space that he’ll be leaving
Falling for a girl in a hula skirt
She’s scared of believing
He could be for real
She thinks a little crushing
Is the limit of his deal
She’s a private person
She values her self-control
And she thinks she’s won
To stick with the friendship role
Until she knows that he is serious
Her shut eyes protect her heart
From what seems too...
But she doesn't know it
He’d give her the world
And he wants to show it
Her mind’s eye sees a cloud of dirt
In the space that he’ll be leaving
Falling for a girl in a hula skirt
She’s scared of believing

A Bit Taboo
Sometimes they say it's wrong for you
It can be a bit taboo
But if it is the utter truth
Sometimes taboo is right for you
It can be a chocolate
Or a little sugar lump
Some times it is a sound that glares
Or a little tender mercy shared
So what if it's a little bit taboo
Though it might make you cringe
Hanging out at the fringe
Or have a bite of irony
It really might just set you free
If it's a little bit taboo
It can be a bit taboo
But if it is the utter truth
Sometimes taboo is right for you
It can be a chocolate
Or a little sugar lump

Easy With You
To everyone else
I'm a nun on Sunday
But for only you
Every day is Funday
Goody-two-shoes
That's what they all call me
But I'm good to you too
For you all my love's free
Cause I'm easy with you
Oh, baby
I get into trouble with you
So crazy!
Not celibate
But might as well be
That's what they all think
But not you, Baby!

Searching for Solutions
What does drive life’s functions
What keys of truth will heal
If we melt it with our potions
What will life reveal?
If it were a laptop
Ground up into bits
Bathing in the solvents
It would give you fits
You would get no answers
Dissolved it would just stop
The chaos that you ponder
No longer a laptop
But if it is a life form
Like a tiny cell
Dispersed in acid storm
Some think they study well
Context comes from living
Form contains the content
The software of adapting
Gives...

Hear Ye, Hippies and Yuppies
Hear ye,
All you hippies
Who took a vow
Of semi-poverty
Fear ye,
E-car yuppies
Who cleanse the now
Recycling property
We daily face a reality
No paper plates or gassy car
Compares to the finality
Of nuclear, fracking, or manufactured war
Somehow we didn't self-terminate
Stacked miracles all through the night
I knew it couldn't be too late
Prayer and faith will get us to daylight
Recycling will not save
Nor will holding our breath
Only honoring the life God gave ...

Screenplay
A story told in picture
Medium of visual motion
Romantic conjecture
Person placed in commotion
Setup in circumstance
A hero or otherwise
Turns from the background dance
To follow plot point prize
Placed upon a warring path
Follows a twisting trail
Yet despite all fear and wrath
Soon to reach a blackened veil
And there beyond hope’s reach
A brilliant resolution
Order comes out to teach
With conflict dissolution

The Blackened Veil
Down at the end of the line
At the end of the rope
With unraveling twine
At the end of the twisting
Yellow brick road’s green glimmer
Shows burned out black city
Instead of emerald shimmer
And the citizens need no pity
Dark and proud every one
With hearts of broken stone
An inner core with beating flesh
Is bleeding red love like your own
They warm themselves beside the fire
Of cold open eyes as dark as coal
Whose jaded sight burns with desire
They wait before the blackened veil ...

I'd Rather Laugh
I'd rather laugh
How does that sound
For an epitaph?
Weeping fists may pound
But only at a gaff
Too hilarious
To ignore
I'd rather laugh
And with hearty glee
If you only knew the half
You might even pity me
Except to see my laugh
Too hilarious
To ignore
Would you rather laugh
Or eat chips under bed covers
Your life needs a staff
Or crutch for what it discovers
So find the laugh
Too hilarious
To ignore
How does that sound
For an epitaph?
Weeping fists may pound
But only at a gaff
Too hilarious
To ignore
I'd rather laugh

If you only knew the half
