POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I'm not just fuckin' around, puttin' my feelings to pen; I'm a craftsman.I'm very good, in my humble opinion. With time, feel free, to peruse my whole collection; comments, both good and ill, are always welcome.
Midnight Window
If you, by gentle breeze, awake
Amid the midnight's still embrace
Adrift from all was commonplace
unawares of the sake
And sift through splintered bits of mind
Dew stained cheeks and forgotten kind
And find of Man a forsaken race
Of children dumb and adults blind
The threads that bind can never break
Even when darkness seems unyeilding
And the right's replaced by the unappealing
The truth by lie, the real by fake
Know amongst the shards of past
The broken glass of window pain
True love, once born, will always last...

Winter's Prayer
Thank you Lord for placing me in such a beautiful enclave
And allowing me to feel your love,
So much of which I have yet to earn.
You are most merciful, your compassion is humbling and Embarrassing.
Your love is the power, all glory has come from you,
All troubles have come from me.
You are a wise parent, I am a restless child.
Forgive my inabilities to emulate you,
Forgive my many outbursts against you,
Forgive my vain attempts to disrupt you.
Your voice is clear and pure and indisputable
And every instance of disregard is an utter...

Useless
Craft the finest arrow
Forage jungles for straightest shaft
Forge sharpest head of glass
Pluck feathers of the wisest crow
Without the simplest archer and bow
Without a mark that's true
Useless
Craft the finest vessel
Fell the jungle's strongest mast
Build the world's mightiest hull
A flag the crown of all seas you can sew
Without the simplest oarsmen to row
Without a port that's true
Useless

In Sanity's Refrain
I won't go away, i'll always be;
That's what he says to me.
Try to burn me down, says he.
You have already.
The days you put a flame to me,
The daze of nights incendiary,
Combustion of your own fuel only;
An ashen cry i'll always be
A coal black sky tormenting thee.
I tell myself you'll go away.
I'll lock you up and lose the key.
I'll tuck away and there you'll stay.
Live or die, just stay away.
Stowed a corner of dark and dust,
A cell of silence, to rot and rust;
Foe's compliance, one day i trust
Will hark my...

It's All Right
Grin's a crooked smile, showing crooked teeth;
Such is mine, with pride.
Honestly,
Y'all's teeth can be too straight for me.
What's of yours that isn't mine?
Braces?
Wisdom removed?
Well, alright.
Some bite,
Others shine.
It's all right.
Garbs lift to scars beneath;
Such is mine, with pride.
Honestly,
Y'all's skin can be too smooth for me.
What's of yours that isn't mine?
Soft grasses?
No stones threw?
Well, alright.
Some fight,
Others recline.
It's all right.
Twilight tears, day's...
Such is mine, with pride.

Y'all's teeth can be too straight for me.

The Dream
Of all the ears on earth,
Of all the voices heard,
No tone's so sweet to any ear
As a dreamer's silent dream.
But the words she whispers ain't so clear;
Reality is blurred.
Which a ghost, which a birth,
What's real and which a dream?
I am a man in slumber's mirth,
Reveling absurd!
Or juvenile's night's arear,
Jousting with a dream?
Should i indulge or should i fear
Confidence demurred?
What's of vapor, what's of worth?
Or is it all a dream?

The Inn
Leaning 'gainst my cinder 'sill
Iron bars me from the rain
There was a man I had to kill
The maker of my sister's boy
The bringer of my family's pain
I'll count the drops alone until
They hang my body on the plain
Into a night of laugh and joy
Of mates and girls and rivers gin
I happened to meet a young bar-boy
I'd searched but found my wallet lost
And needed a lift home from kin
I too drunk he phoned convoy
My sister's favor he did win
Her red hair was fire from the frost
Blue eyes glittered when they met ...

A Tiger's Tale
By day
The sun made its usual spin over the jungle's canopy
Its light falling through every crack and open space it could find
Until only the purest lines from earth to the heavens
Fell in streams to the ambrosial soil.
It was dense and lush here.
This season's growth on top of many seasons before.
Over the years he'd worked his way deeper and deeper
From lincoln to dark moss.
When younger, he'd sometimes stray all the way to the fringe
Where jujube and teak trees adorn the land as single stars
And blue overhead stretches from end to end....

A Snowball's Chance
A burnt out clown skipped downtown
Under cloudless skies of burnt umber.
He's on his way to The Last Horrah:
A hole in the wall with a rusty gate
For a door, on which two bronze lions paw at each other.
Tiny Koreans patrol the entrance, with sunglasses and pony tails.
It's one of these foo foo endangered animal bistros
Everyone loves,
Full of fat men in suits, and top hats, and white gloves.
With a grand in hand, you can land a Condor's Egg Nest
And Bits of Five Whales.
But clowns don't have a grand, he doesn't have a dollar.
He's got floppy...

Coke and Gummies
Both my parents were alcoholics and junkies
They both died when I was in my twenties
Blood-soaked carpets and pockets with no money
Christmas with no electricity
Looking back it's a sort of funny
It's sort of hard bein' a fluffy bunny
In smoke-filled rooms of whores and rummies
Shooting up shit 'til veins turn to putty
Living off meals of Coke and gummies
Then as a teen, when skin's to acne
And the mind's turning more abstractly
I must confess, it made me angry
To stew in a world so unworldly
Of rape and murder and prices on...

Sloth's Prayer
Grateful I am for my seat, i assure
Grateful am I that, in your wisdom
Your fruit abundant to linger
Just outside my fingers' reach always
These memories sanguine
My provenance of blessed security
While others scurry over failed fields, parched
As I meander in and out lush greens, plenty
I've slept my share and my limbs lift weak
With an air unfair you care for the meek
Of which I am, surely
Sleek forms of my stalkers, there on the floor
Pernicious worms squirm square un'er door
Poor envious eyes and supple and spry ...

Coffees and Chocolates
Miles off my city's lights and sounds and colors
Where time's with purpose for strange men
Shuffling brisk to work under colorless umbrellas
And slow and sweet for strange girls from class
With upturned lips aimless in pinks and skirts
And sandals, young through drops with wet hair
And clean skin, to warm with coffees and chocolates
Far from my city's horns and falling flecks of light
Under the lamppost's ambers and neon purple
And streetlight's greens and reds and brief yellow
With strangers under awnings, our worlds shrunk to
These dry...
