POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Though my soul may set in darkness, it will rise in perfect light; I have loved the stars too fondly to be fearful of the night. S.W
Perigee
she ran into the house
full moon scared her thin
afraid it would crash into us
her mind was gone by then
her son picked out a ruby
she wanted a necklace instead
a lie would have been softer
disappointment stayed in his head
they ride in on dead horses
claim I’m the worst
more words fling outward
roles switch and reverse
he was afraid to tell her
what he might need
verbal pats on the back
were no guide to succeed
young boy in the little blue house
do your best in school
or days...

Murky Water
I indulged in thoughts of doing such then doing so found
I despised it much
too cold a mind to be pursued
have become the murky water I sink into
you see the green
I live in the grey
our chance at this long passed away
you’ll leave me here with a corrosive pill and this cruel endeavor
I’ll miss you still
there’s one place left one no one can flee
by deadly vapor I will be
freed.

Salticidae
With the winter comes
cold gusts and snow
I sit at home and ponder
(before the window draft)
where the jumping spiders go
Perhaps they ride upon
the great blue-herons back
or dream a dream akin to mine
(of green beneath the folds of white)
from their silky silver flats.

The Oranges
All frozen failures
there’s beauty in destruction
it is the oranges.

Moonlight
one step outside and wonder begins
the moon rises full streetlights contend
too cold to abide the night the wind
they push they pull more wonder descends

I go
to a sandstone cliff
above human turmoil
frail and strong-willed
to a cave mouth on the rock face
trees and clouds unknowable aschelminthes
exhausted body
quiet mind.

Reality
gazing outside I
see myself reflected in

Episode II
what once was magical
has turned out the light
and shuttered its windows
against my sight
pane by slick pane
I climb to the top
clouds into rain
hands like a clock
tick tick
tick tick
four seconds too late
cant save what is gone
I fall and I fall
you’ll find a new pawn.
