POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Definitely deserves to exist.
Springtime Wind
I'm blown from bulky homemade sweaters
Into cotton t-shirts,
Shrieking as the wind
Shakes
The last of the snowflakes
From the tree tops
And deposits them
In
Gentle
Raindrops,
Warm
Round
Splattery
On my wind-mussed head.
The wind warms my wintered
Joints as I skip them
Back to life in the
Moist mud field which
Gulps
At my feet,
Looking for
Something
To grow.
Into cotton t-shirts,
Shrieking as the wind
Shakes
The last of the snowflakes
From the tree tops
And deposits them
In
Gentle
Raindrops,
Warm
Round
Splattery
On my wind-mussed head.
The wind warms my wintered
Joints as I skip them
Back to life in the
Moist mud field which
Gulps
At my feet,
Looking for
Something
To grow.

The Soldier's Girl
Raindrops leap in rebound
From mud-red puddles,
Smattering rust-colored spots
On a pair of white high-heeled
Shoes strapped around slender
Ankles
Which totter on tiptoe to
Plant a smudge of
"Passion pink" lipstick
On a tall soldier's white cheek.
Impatient wind whips a crimson petal
From rose
Clutched
By slim, trembling fingers.
Cruel thorn bites a finger and
The first drop
Of blood
Shed
For a war
Poses, quivering,
On the hand that waves goodbye.
From mud-red puddles,
Smattering rust-colored spots
On a pair of white high-heeled
Shoes strapped around slender
Ankles
Which totter on tiptoe to
Plant a smudge of
"Passion pink" lipstick
On a tall soldier's white cheek.
Impatient wind whips a crimson petal
From rose
Clutched
By slim, trembling fingers.
Cruel thorn bites a finger and
The first drop
Of blood
Shed
For a war
Poses, quivering,
On the hand that waves goodbye.
