I started this note
somewhere in the middle
of Chesapeake Bay…staggering
upper deck on a ferry named FANTASY,
floating towards Foreverville.
Your arms surrounded me
like a memory,
chestnut hair wildly dispersed,
September chill on sky-mist stationary,
your tongue on the crease
of my sticky envelope,
tendrils of curls crossing the t’s,

Secrets
I know where beauty's secrets lie.
We dance to whispers in her bed.
Dismiss, resist the fears that I
might be misled.
I know where beauty's secrets fly
with fairy wings around my head.
And in the sky, we wave goodbyes
like newlyweds.
I know why beauty's secrets cry.
She seals them up when she instead
should loose the thread that keeps them tied
to senseless dread.
And to her secrets I reply,
my heart has burst from what you've said.
The pieces rise like butterflies
that I have bled.
