Even God Cried
Even God cried
When we lay you to rest
Tears in downpours
Drowning beating hearts
In chests
No umbrella protection
For the sorrows
That bestill wicked whispers
Of evil expectations.
No raincoat keeping
This sweetest of souls
Here with us
Enveloped in our love and light.
Droplets large enough
To swallow the rock lodged between
My eyes
Carry you away from us
Upon drug-induced
Red-wristlets of pain.
Yes, even God cried

The Only Champion
While all sleep
Sweet dreams
Snuggling down
Deep in REM souls
Here YOU sit
Lit room
White noise
Backgrounding
Stacks of papers awaiting
Your marks
Instead
You cry
Tears bubbling over
No damm
No gates
No catchalls
To stop them
For pain knows no boundaries
At times
It catapults from
Tiny snags in the fabric
Of life
To gaping holes
In the crevices
...
Sweet dreams
Snuggling down
