If our life lessons are in the wisdom in which we have endured through trial and error then to stay the same, seems to mean, unwilling to learn.
But for some of us who have been taken, shaken, and burned; our wills become broken. In the moment in which we shatter, reality sets in real close, and makes itself matter.
And in that moment, when humility stares you in the center of your core, you become humble, vulnerable, and willing to listen, to learn.
