CRUSH
You make my heart
Beat faster when you’re near
Sending you signals
Hope they are clear
Making up fantasies
Of us having a life
You holding me tightly
And calling me “wife”
Us flying away
To a far away land
Me having your back
You holding my hand
Now back to reality
I feel so ashamed
When I remember you don’t
Even know my name!!

DISTANT LOVER
Your spirit is so strong
You radiate love
And give me strength
From far away
Just a thought of you
It gets me through
And though you can’t call
I know what you’d say
Its quiet assurance
That makes me smile
What did I do…
To deserve such a blessing?
So for now I’ll prepare
For the day you are near
And I don’t have time
For worries or stressing
How could I complain?
When you’ve come in my life
And changed my skies from gray to blue
And all I know
Is ill always show
You just how much...

LOVES HANGOVER
Got that morning after
Sick empty feeling
For days on end
Sunshine’s gone
Inaudible moans
As the room starts to spin
No course of action
Stuck in this labyrinth
Can’t get up legs wont move
Closed eyes
Fetal position
Is all that behooves
Need to be rescued
But cant scream
Pain just regurgitates

MISSED CALL
When I don’t hear from you
My day is not the same
Although I try to go on
Ignoring the pain
Wondering what you are doing
Can’t you see that I’ve called?
Or have you decided
You don’t care at all?
Was there an accident?
I wonder if you’re ok
Have insurgents come
And taken you away?
Or did the C.I .A
Come in and seize ya
Were you hit in the head?
And now suffer amnesia?
Did a succubus seduce you?
Her sultry voice singing
Snap back to reality
My phone is ringing
Snatch it up fast
Can...

Although I try to go on

BLISS
When I saw you for the first time
I felt your spirit connect with mine
And when you walked up close to me
I was dying of curiosity
We laughed and joked and talked together
You changed my life to sunny weather
And all the times you took me out
And showed me what life is all about
Yes with all the attention you gave to me
My heart just danced and filled with glee
But it was when you gave me my first kiss
Yes it was at that moment
THAT I KNEW BLISS!!

MY EX
My ex has been calling me all night long
Saying he’s sorry, blowing up my phone
Confessing he made the mistake of his life
Now he is ready to make me his wife
He says he appreciates all I represented He regrets quality time, how we never spent it
And the women he meets, just can’t compare
He never realized just how much he cares
And I’m the sweetest woman
He has met so far
He went on and on
Saying “blah” “blah” “blah”
I guess now he is ready to do all he can
Except...

You know me from the outside in
How I act or how I pretend
You see my face, my outer beauty
My brilliant smile and call me cutie
Yes you see my hips the way they sway
And my golden skin makes you want to stay
But have you felt my pain, do you know my fears?
Or can you even relate to the source of my tears?
Do you know what I like, or stuff that I’m into?
Or the life changing moments that I have been through?
You see to like me is to see me and take me out
But to love me is to know me

MY SOLDIER IS UNDER THE WEATHER
AND HE’S WAY, WAY OUT TO SEA

AND ACHY AND SHAKY AND BLUE

DATE RAPED
I trusted him when I went to his house
We were friends from school
I went in his room a moment too soon
I must have been a fool
The next thing you know
I was pinned to the bed
I could not escape
I had not a whim
That visiting him
Would end with me being raped
My mind was reeling
Tried to tune out the fact
That he had taken my power
I ran to my house
And cried it all out
Then tried to scrub him off in the shower
His scent washed off
But the terror remained
Of what I had just gone through
I...

RAW DOG
Watch the raw dog
As he roams down the street
Fiending for action
Hungry for meat
Always going in
No concern for protection
Only one mission
Satisfying erection
No emotion
Cept an occasional smile
When in position
Doggy style
Grunting…growling
He howls at the moon
And now he is going
After coming too soon
Then after he learns
What his brazenness earned him
He looks down and discovers
The kitty cat burned him!
As he roams down the street
Fiending for action

WRITER'S BLOCK
I’ve been hanging out on the block all day
With nothing to do… not much to say
Just loafing around
Watching the authors and poets
Nothing much going on
And I guess they all know it
Its just one of those days
Where it’s hard to get on it
Can’t seem to find
That “Aha” moment
Can’t seem to form
The words in my mind
I may as well be
Deaf, dumb, and blind
So I stare in the distance
To the ticks of the clock
Hanging out doing nothing
On writer’s block!
With nothing to do… not much to say
Just loafing around

Nothing much going on
And I guess they all know it

SMOKER'S CONFESSION
Old stinky cigarette
How did you get on my back?
Got me fiending for you
Like heroin or crack
You serve no purpose
Yet I spend my cash
To keep you around
Yet you never last
You permeate my clothes
Deteriorate my breath
Contaminate my home
Until nothing is fresh
You wrinkle my lips
And threaten my health
Yet I don’t have the strength
To defend myself
My lover won’t kiss me
At church I’m ashamed
A self-inflicted handicap
I’m broken and maimed
