POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Dipping my toe back into sculpting language as a way to make sense of complex emotion, after too many years lost in a fog of bad relationships and the wrong medication. Old enough to know better; young enough to still take risks.
My Heart Knows More Than My Voice Dare Speak
Fearlessly, openly, you showed me your life.
Between your words, I saw every battlescar and every grief.
My soul ached to take your bruised, beautiful heart in my hands
To tenderly, lovingly kiss away each bitter wound,
To undo all that you had suffered
At the hands of a selfish, thoughtless few.
I would lay my own life at your feet -
All that I have overcome, all my rage and fears -
Without hesitation
Trusting that you would take it all
And guard it as your own.
Hidden in my heart for 20-some years,
A treasured ember of...

Change Like The Weather
Waiting to hear your voice for the first time in years,
Dancing barefoot in my bedroom,
Grinning and laughing in a weightless way I thought I'd lost,
Marveling at how you could do this to me so easily.
After we had said goodnight,
Though you still echoed in my head,
I could think of nothing but that fevered, frantic kiss shared on the Métro,
How desperately I wanted you that night
And how the years since have done nothing to dim that hunger.
Every nerve and fibre, body and soul,
Screamed out for your touch in the lonely darkness; ...

After we had said goodnight,
Though you still echoed in my head,
