The Y Chromosome
Must be tall, must be funny
Must have the looks, must have money
Must have muscle, must have the fight
If not, then don't bother swiping right
Must be into sports, must always be tough
Must bottle up your feelings, must do other 'guy stuff'
Must handle your drink, must enjoy a good smoke
If you don't do these things, are you even a real bloke?
Must pay half your assets, must play the court's game
Must give up the children, must take all the blame
Must be left broken, must bring your life to a halt
If you do all of this, it'll...

Music is my medicine
The whole world makes sense when I sing
Feel the rhythm, feel the beat
Time to get up and move your feet.
Start the day with a bangin' tune
Keep it playing til the afternoon
A funky chorus with a catchy rhyme
Just hope I sing the words on time
In the car, out for a drive
The melody makes me feel alive
Turn it up, make it loud
Sing it out, and sing it proud

Dementia
I wake up in bed
My mind full of fears
Where is my wife?
Then I remember,
She's been gone for 5 years.
I get up and get dressed
Go get something to eat
Suddenly, I realise
My slippers on
The wrong
Feet.
I pop some bread in the toaster
I open the fridge door,
I try pouring some juice
But half goes on the floor.
A man comes to visit
He seems such a nice guy
When he leaves he says 'bye Dad'
But I never had a son, did I?
The reality
Is dawning
My brain's...

Confessions of the Heart
I took out a mortgage on love
But it fell into arrears
Nothing left to show for it
Except a heart full of tears
The pain cuts so deep
My mind's cracking up like glass
I just need to fight through this
In time it will soon pass
I thought I did right
By doing the best I can
But it seems it wasn't enough
To stop you leaving for another man
Colours turn to grey
Songs don't sound the same
Seems I'm just another loser
In love's wicked game
But I mustn't lose hope
Can't enjoy sun without rain...

Out of bed, eat your breakfast
No time to delay
Get your running shoes on
Cos today is race day
Approach the start line
The watches all sync up in time
A quick fire of the gun
This is it, time to run
Faces etched with motivation
A true test of determination
Feel the burning sensation
Bodies drenched in perspiration
Take on some hydration
The races reaches its culmination
The winner is crowned
Medals are handed around
You got round the track

Pandemic
In a far away market
Where the food's kept unclean
A disease is coming
Contagious and unseen
People fall ill
And soon end up dead
Things are getting serious
The disease starts to spread
Warnings are issued
But it's not our problem yet
It's not in our country
So there's no need to fret
More people get infected
But it's still not a big deal
Now the disease is on our shores
Suddenly shit just got real
The people start to panic
And lose all self control
The shops are cleaned out ...
Where the food's kept unclean

The full moon rises,
It's the pearl of the night
The wolf howls at its presence,
It's light taken from the Sun
To display it's magnificent flouresence.
Zoom! A celestial path,
Carved across the black sky
By a shooting star,
The people gaze up
And make a wish from afar.
The planets scattered across the cosmos
Like the marbles of the galaxy,
They orbit the Sun each at their own pace
Forever spinning and twirling,
Like the Carousel of Deep Space.
Light years from home
Where time...

Insomnia
Another night, all trapped in my head
Under the covers, wide awake in my bed.
My mind is racing, I just want to sleep
But I can't, it's so hard when your thoughts run so deep.
I fluff up the pillows, change the position which I lay
Why, oh why can't I just drift away?
I want to nod off and enjoy a sweet dream
But instead it's a nightmare, I just want to scream.
I toss and I turn, my brain starts to stress
I don't know what to do, no rest for the wicked I guess.
And as I resign myself to another night of pain ...
