POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Started writing poems quite late Sometimes staying up late and my thoughts relay On paper, an ink and paper, my companions Words reverberating in my head, my ardent minions.
Sunset Memories
The rise and fall of the ocean tide was a pleasant sight.
I sat with a stick in hand, expressing my thoughts on the wet sand and watched as the coming tide swept them away as it fell.
The ambience was cool; a beautiful sunset it was as the evening sky was adorned with aesthetic beauty that only nature could give.
My love came and wrapped her hands around me and watched the beautiful sunset.
I still had my stick in hand trying to make out a sketch of the view that was before me.
Stratus clouds were in the sky with different shades and tints of yellow.
I could also see...

Once upon a Love
Once upon a time
a lifetime in my life
I wished to hold you in my arms
and keep you away from harm.
But I couldn't see
through those starry eyes
to know what you thought of me...
blinded by a love so strong,
left myself vulnerable to a pain unforseen.
Beholding your presence was a proof of my existence;
feeling the air that came with your passing showed how much my skin could feel.
Like a shadow's vanish from overheard light
you were that purity that cleansed my filth
or so I thought.
How could I draw close to you when I am not in...

Yet Another Dream
Twas the best dream I had in a long while
An audience present and a mic in my hand
Keen ears ready to listen
As I let the flow out in the verses I'd be spilling
First line came good, the second was whack
With the third I got myself on track
My audience cheered, I was feeling like a king
Tempo rising with each bar I felt rap supreme
My time was up, I was rounding up
Can't remember my killer catchphrase but it felt "on top"
Now I was taking the chorus:
"Can you see, can you feel
hold my hand and don't let go"
I took it...

Lust in a Rave
Twas a rave like no other
Ladies, gents losing their manners
Of decency to a music intense
Drinks everywhere, everyone going insane.
Green lights, blue lights, purple lights from corner to corner swinging
Heavy metal music, the party was banging
A cute blondie with her hips rhythmically swaying
Spotlight on her, she looked totally amazing.
He sat at the bar having a couple of drinks
He caught sight of her and didn't want to blink
Thinking of so many ways he could play with her
He would never know, maybe, he had to approach her. ...

In a world, lost.
Naked he lay there on shore,
From a wreck of a ship he was aboard,
Lying lifeless awaiting natures call,
To bring him to life and not eternally fall.
With soothing caresses that comes with the tide,
Gentle touches of breeze so mild,
Fingers slightly moving, toes wriggling,
Eyes now open to a light blinding.
Eyes fast blinking, thoughts quickly racing,
Hands trembling, his knees shaking,
Grief in his heart as he’s sulking,
Can’t bear to take in the reality he is facing.
A place untamed, one he peeved,

An Escaped Horror
She has a nightmare and wakes up from sleep
Sweat all over her, her hear t quickly racing
Beating fast, now she’s panting
The darkness in the room giving her the creeps
She steps into her flip-flops and heads for the bathroom
Hoping to wash off from her face the scare
Lights now on
In the mirror she stares
She can’t shake it; she can still feel the gloom
Thunder claps
It’s raining cats and dogs
Crickets chirping, unwelcomed croaking of frogs
Her fears become intense, she’s gonna snap
The door squeaks,
She hears thudding...

Adios (Into Another Dimension)
It was to be his last
A moment of truth
A dark truth
One to draw his future to this present and connect with his past
The solace after to be of timeless seasons
His spouse, children, crying in pain
His body and soul, naked where he’d lain
“Pain is gain”, they sayThat was not a truth to be found in the eyes of those he left behind
They could no more look into their father’s eyes
“Oh death! Where is thy sting?” someone once asked
The feeling after can only be felt by those connected to one by means of love-threaded strings
Life! Where is that succour...

Heart
As bright as day
As dark as night
So is the human heart
Sometimes moved by compassion
Sometimes by hate
Running a course that defines our fate
Dark it may seem
With cursed red streams
letting out gore and horror in its wake
Or lovely it may seem
Never cold, never boiling with steam
Leaving smiles and laughter in its wake
But how true can it be?
We reason with our mind and feel with our heart?
If true then feelings outweigh reason when our hearts turn black
Unleashing a horror that only a white heart can...

My Last Date with Eve
It was an idyllic night
The dark firmament adorned with stars in their brilliance
In a bar I was at the moment
With a book in hand, reading some fables.
From the left wing of the bar she came
Every step she took was with such grace
All eyes in the bar were on her
She was beautiful
With a body so accurately crafted
I would say she definitely was the grand design of the Creator
She drew nigh and I stood waiting
I reached for her hand, held it, raised it and let my lips kiss its supple skin
The table was already set
We started talking

Stolen Innocence
She was little, 3 years of age
Vibrant she was, always loved to play
A jewel she was to her family
The apple of her dad’s eye
Ever smiling, ever happy.
Evil lurked around her niche
Waiting of the right moment to strike
Just a little distance out of watch
And it will pounce on her.
The sun arose from the depth of the eastern horizon
Journeying through the sky in its splendor
What a promising day, she thought
Not knowing the darkness that hid behind the shadows.
She was now alone
Picking flowers to adorn her hair
La, la,...

His Last Words
I cherish the memory of the moment we first met in the park
It’s funny how things unfolded and we’ve come this far
I am so happy I chose to be with you
It was the greatest decision I ever made
Through thick and thin you’ve been there for me
My tantrums you absorbed
Hitting back at me with a love intense
I want you to always know that I love you
That will never change
Tell our son that he is the best gift that I ever received in this world
Take good care of him my love
Discipline him the way I would and also show him the affection that a mother...

Tensed
On the hot seat I was at the
moment
hands trembling, eyes blinking
beyond reflex
sweat glands working industriously
with the demand that came with
the adrenaline rush.
The clock was ticking
I was thinking
neurons moving fast with great
fluidity
yet, accessing the Intel I craved for
proved futile
for at my memory gate stood
sentinels that issued no permit.
Tick-tock, tick-tock
the sound came again
my heart palpitating
my hands shaking
laps pressed hard against each
other
hoping my organs won't let out
fluid...
