i am a motherfucking poet and don’t forget it 
every day, to multiple strangers, lovers, family and friends, i must reassert that i am not a child to be fucked with
this is my task.
i was never taught
that i was a defend-able argument
or how to defend
bear with me while i learn the surgery:
the volume, tone and pace of the cut
yet my grudges pile up so high this evening
body upon body of
evidence
and i must turn to this intestine to untie
why i must be angry
with no course for attack
no plan for revenge
it is keeping me awake and unmoving
