I want to add one more thing to the other side of what's going on that at the moment that's gone unnoticed.
Couple days ago we had a meeting at my workplace and an employee asked hypothetical question that what if the employees don't show up to work in fear of the virus, or that they're sick..or for any reason. What would they do and my supervisor's response was, that the first thing they'd do pull from other 'sister' companies to come and help and they're already hiring temporary help, that soooooo many people are applying at the moment HR is flooded with people who are desperate and anywhere that is legally open, she said, 'you'd be surprised the amount of application right now.'
So in essence it told us 2 things:
a) they really don't care about our welfare and more than ever we are replaceable.
b) the dire situatio that people are in at the moment because of the economy and desperately looking for jobs.
So when i'm pissed at the public for not staying home by partaking their responsibility to the community, this is why, we are risking our lives to serve them and we are nothing to the corporate world.

Hoax? No. Suicide? ....well...
My husband was a medic in the front lines. 1st gulf war. Sg. Coffee wouldn't leave his biosuit after the first alarm. It was sad/funny after all his grandstanding....
"Sg. Coffee aint gonna be there for you cowards..." ooops yeah. Come out of your suit, Coffee.
I don't wanna be unpopular. I hate losing friends. I hate hate expressing what could end what keeps me waking up, w a smile to check.... see what's going on.
Just be yourself, Jess. But be careful when you publicly accuse people such as myself ( by direct name ) of being too naive and trusting of the news; not to mention disseminating false information that is generating fear which could lead to suicide.

What if this was how depopulation happened? I hate to conjure the Warsaw Ghettos... but how is this safe... allowing mass population control?
We could do so many things short of shutting down!
How disrespectful to flu sufferers are we?
We wouldn't do this for 70,000 US flu deaths!
That was highly insulting to my intelligence. I work very hard to decipher what I post here. And I am far from naive or ignorant. Nor am I disrespectful to flu suffers, who will BECOME Covid-19 victims for lack of hospital beds and care if people DON'T STAND DOWN AND STAY AT HOME.

That is HORRIBLE and needs to be made PUBLIC.
And just for the record, I am not referring to those who are doing what they MUST to survive, i.e. - going to work/groceries/doctor/etc. then home. I am referring to those who are claiming this is nothing but a hoax and we are ignorant for believing them. Those who are claiming their FREEDOM is more important and they'll do what they want regardless of consequence to others. Whoo hooo parteeee! Sounds like a drunk driver to me. Get them off the streets.
I am not on the front lines of this; but, I know doctors and nurses who are—and this is NO HOAX.

So sorry I generated that feeling. I'm way to sensitive about that. I'd make you look like iron man compared I'm so over sensitive... so sorry. (frankly, I could forget you struggle. You overcompensate too well!)
I don't believe you are ignorant. Far from it. Nor do I think less of John Oliver.
I'm very concerned that the plan is to destroy not cure. But that's not the official story, and as things stand, I hope folks stay well.
People in general should not get sick, they probably don't have the immune function for this thing....
ETA: I don't want to add any more to this thread. I appreciate the drive to stay healthy. I would like to see more other strategies for survival outside of staying coved-19 free...
like how to avoid totalitarian pitfalls that could shut down our economy and way of life forever....

Yes it's disheartening but that's how it's always been we are only the employee number on the paycheck We can't ever think we mean more to our employees than that no matter the profession
The show must go on. As a business owner I cannot have a personal "feeling" with my employees that's not good business practice. In the medical profession it seems callous but if there is an empty chair it must be filled without worry as to why that chair is vacant to do so would take away from the main objective to care for the people Those who see this "thing" in their face everyday cannot resort to feelings that is not being professional it's weakness

Some may see my comment about workers and employers and view it as heartless I will not go back on what was said because that is how things needed to be run
As an empath I know full well the pain and suffering people go through
I am an Aquarian a humanitarian but I am also a logical thinker in times of crises
I led the crises intervention team for disaster preparedness while I was employed by the public education system
There are many hats that need to be worn at times like these some may appear cruel or shitty
When people's lives are on the line the last thing to worry about is why Susie didn't show up for work
When things fall into place and vacancies are filled I was never beneath me to call Susie to see what was up
The employer of a mega business or corporation may not have that luxury
Do your job and do it well was my motto
Things are different now that I am retired
Still I have to say I simply understand the cold attitude of the employer
Compassion or bleeding heart ? Their weight is not the same

I work for a publicly listed corporation and sit in the senior leadership team. We are working hard on supporting our people, but at the same time no one has a job if we are broke when this is over. So, we are making hard calls now to protect the business, balanced with protecting the financial shocks on our people. Not all companies think you are a number...but we have a responsibility to our shareholders and investors to.
It is a difficult and complex situation, that no one know has ever experienced, that will last an uncertain amount of time. Not easy.

I sense a poem brewing. . .
Meanwhile, I have been looking into this stimulus package:
McConnell’s bill includes a $500,000,000,000.00 corporate slush fund for CEOs and the ultra rich — while leaving workers, families and children out to dry.
• McConnell’s bill has weak stock buyback language that can be waived by the Treasury Secretary; executive compensation limits only last for two years; language on worker retention is weak and includes easy outs for companies; there are no assurances in the language that workers will benefit.
• The bill provides little transparency of the lending done by Treasury (amount and to whom?).
• There are no specific provisions to protect individuals from eviction, foreclosure or forbearance.
Other Major Problems:
• No money for state and local governments.
• No additional SNAP funds.
• No OSHA language to protect workers.
• No expanded emergency leave provisions.
• Only 3 months on Unemployment Insurance – this is an insufficient length given the scope of the crisis.
• Direct Payments are not available to the millions of people who did not file a return in 2018 or 2019.
• No money to help with the treatment of the uninsured.
• The bill does not provide adequate relief for the 44 million federal student loan borrowers.

Am not US based. Our country is focused on helping companies survive, and also has a fund for wage subsidies.
The US will be led by the greedy and the weak, and her people will suffer for it. Remember that when you vote this year.
