Receding To My Green
...And I do love this place...
Fresh with braced and bracing green
Remaining temperate
An ambassador for me and my
Oven soul
Freezer chest moods
And a mind so much like
spilled trailmix
For in the forest
It never isolates or denigrates
And it's herbal rains fill my home
My home...
It's never too cold to go
So I sit in the mosses and stillnesses
Even when I'm needed in crowded rooms
(I retreat into my haven rainforest gloom)
And thick air with much trying hard
Raps on my mind, and it's nothing like sweet rain...
(The awful anxiety...)
And the dueling, dueling voices
Straining, pouring over the next to be chief
I rush to my green
And breathe sunned sap on grandfather tree backs
Kin growths in brisk industry
Oxygenating life
Drenched at
Tangled...
Angles...
Without competing to strangle the rest
Fresh with braced and bracing green
Remaining temperate
An ambassador for me and my
Oven soul
Freezer chest moods
And a mind so much like
spilled trailmix
For in the forest
It never isolates or denigrates
And it's herbal rains fill my home

Thank you everyone for taking part in this comp! I loved each and every entry for its own weight and merits. Congratulations to JohnFeddeler for taking the trophy home. We ended the comp with 2 outstanding pieces, thank you Taryn and AtoMikbomb for your amazing last minute poems.
For those of you who have posted your piece to your own profiles, I have tried to catch with comments. A few honorable mentions...
snugglebuck: Thank you for bringing beige to the stage. I agree fully with your sentiment on the color and truly enjoyed how you expressed it.
Grace: Your poem took us on an enchanted evening and made me smile from beginning to end. My daddy always said girls are always princesses. Thank you for bringing your beautiful piece to the comp!
Thetravelingfairy: Red is such an intense color that it truly does depend on the person and tone as to how it's received. I much enjoyed your piece and how you expressed your emotions in regard to red. Thank you for bringing it to the comp!
MadameLavender: Until I red your piece I had never noticed how that particular artwork does breathe sepia tones. I've seen it in countless homes on many walls, and I never saw until you wrote it. Thank you for your entry and its clever little humorous inserts. I much enjoyed it!
AEMelia564: Your poem was so full of beautiful imagery and spiritual expression that it was a pure delight to read. A true reminder that life is color and color is life and death. Thank you for bringing your piece to the comp!
wallyroo92: Your piece entranced me and took me to that not quite identifiable place in time and connection. It was an utter pleasure to read your words not once, but several times. Thank you for bringing them to the comp!
JohnFeddeler: Your poem moved me deeply and I felt the imagery and flow was heart wrenchingly beautiful. Initially I was drawn to your poem because of the deceptively cheery label of lemonade. And once I had read it to the end my eyes were filled with tears. Thank you so very much for bringing such an incredibly beautiful poem to my comp. I am deeply honored. Congratulations on the much deserved trophy.
Taryn: You brought so much emotion to the page with your piece that I was left very much wanting to hug you. Your words flowed beautifully across the page and never faltered, leaving me slightly breathless in the end. Thank you so much for sharing this piece so unexpectedly in my comp. It was a magnificent entry and in my mind I'm awarding another trophy to you for its beauty.
AtoMikbomb: You dropped that amazing entry in the final hour, so to speak, and left me rather with my mouth hanging open. Your words speak emotion and thoughts much akin to my own. Thank you so much for bringing your voice to the comp. It was a very valuable addition.
Again, thank you everyone for taking part!
