Poetry Contest Description
Let's write about tomorrow...
Is tomorrow really exists...?
Let's write about what tomorrow means to everybody. Is it something that we just create in our minds?
How lucky are we? Is it just a hope eating us everyday?
Just wanna see your thoughts about tomorrow and how it influence you....
Rules
Give it a title
One entry
only new stuff
Let your imagination kill you
I don't care about honesty in this poem
I leave you this tune as well just in case of inspiration

Far away
Tomorrow is
too far away
The problem is
Im stuck with today
Tommorrow was
Promised yesterday
Tommorrow was
Too far away
Tomorrow is
too far away
The problem is
Im stuck with today
Tommorrow was
Promised yesterday
Tommorrow was
Too far away

Jobs
There are jobs that must be done
But they are so easy to shun
Tomorrow is when we can begin
Can I start them with a grin?

Tomorrow
What is tomorrow to a troubled kid like me?
How impressive can tomorrow really be?
Lovable and precocious is something I’m not.
You seem to always look down on my penchant
for mischief, wild in my ways I am flawed,
but who are you to belittle my tomorrow?
I’m more of a scientist experimenting with
life’s wheels, please don’t try to explain
my antics to others, I’m too wide-eyed
drenched in curiosity, I’m not for the faint
of heart, I sometimes feel like giving up.
Tomorrow is a myth not everyone will get
the chance to see, some will die tonight,
in fact, my bluntness is my energy enthusiastic
demeanor always getting in trouble with you.
No water pistols in my pants, mud puddles
for everyday living, tomorrow is far away.
I’m only but expressing my grin through
this black window calling for an encore, for
tomorrow will not guarantee my sanity.

How Long Tomorrow?
(¿Cuánto tiempo mañana?)
I used to believe in tomorrow
almost as if it was a birthright.
Yo solía creer en el mañana casi
como si fuera un derecho de nacimiento.
But illness whose grip won't let go,
put a stop to all of my hopes.
Pero la enfermedad cuya adherencia no dejar ir,
poner fin a todas mis esperanzas .
So I can only see as far as
right now, just ahead of my nose,
Así que sólo puedo ver tan lejos como
en este momento, justo por delante de la nariz ,
right before I'm about to speak,
or take my first bite of dinner.
justo antes de que estoy a punto de hablar ,
o llevar a mi primer bocado de la cena .
Or just as I open my eyes
to a new day, and know that it's
O simplemente como abro los ojos
a un nuevo día , y saber que es
Tomorrow! Oh God, it's RIGHT NOW...
but for how long, I pray, for how long?
¡Mañana! Oh Dios , que es en este momento ...
pero por cuánto tiempo , ruego , por cuánto tiempo?

Refuge
I'll dream about tomorrow
and what it might just bring
because today I was too pained to speak
but tomorrow I might sing.
Yesterday I cried so much
that there's still water in my chest
but by this time tomorrow
I might just breathe enough to rest.
Tomorrow is a refuge
from what I live today
because tomorrow might give me something
that makes me decide to stay.
Call it what you want
I'll just cry 'at last'
because tomorrow I might have enough guts
to look at life and laugh.

Tomorrow, Tomorrow
Tomorrow, tomorrow
Tis the chance to start again
Tomorrow, tomorrow
No need to rehash the past my friend
Tomorrow, tomorrow
How will you transcend?
Tomorrow, tomorrow
The new path is just around the bend
Tomorrow, tomorrow
Tis the chance to start again
Tomorrow, tomorrow
No need to rehash the past my friend
Tomorrow, tomorrow
How will you transcend?
Tomorrow, tomorrow
The new path is just around the bend

Myth
I’ve been thinking about it
what is tomorrow
I don’t have a solid answer
this is what I know
today is the moment
the time that we live
yesterday was a lesson
gone forever but…
hopefully not forgotten
there’s talk of tomorrow
plans to be made
paths to follow
all well and good
important even
still I come back to
only this time
now
today
this is when
we’re truly alive
tomorrow?
I don’t believe in it
I call it a myth
it never arrives
wake up in the morning
it’s today again
I’ve been thinking about it
what is tomorrow
I don’t have a solid answer
this is what I know
today is the moment
the time that we live
yesterday was a lesson
gone forever but…
hopefully not forgotten
there’s talk of tomorrow

A Promise to Myself
Tomorrow, I casually await
taking for granted that it will come
But just in case, I don't want to be late
because, it will not be there, for some
As I gain on years
the good Lord raises me
every morning, despite my fears
and asks: What will today be?
I answer: A promise to myself
to be nice to those who come around
He knows how I put danger up on the shelf
and blesses those who have left me, without a sound
My tomorrow is one that includes hope
and a promise to myself once again
to loosen the rope
and allow me space to grow, as only He knows I can
For all of the yesterdays behind
most have guilted me, and I ask
for the strength to learn and to be kind
for I am but one sip away from the flask
As anxious as my tomorrow may be
It is without the horror of yesterday
I am an alcoholic, you see
and one day at a time, is what we say
A promise to myself about tomorrow
is futile; I will decide at each moment
to be the best that I can be and not wallow
in what might have been; I have ended my torment
Tomorrow, I casually await
taking for granted that it will come
But just in case, I don't want to be late

on paper, I will scribe
today
in a bottle, I will have messaged myself me
on paper, I will scribe
all that makes my world lesser than the two evils
that exist on my shoulders
perhaps tomorrow your lips
will be there instead

Tomorrow
"Tomorrow" we say sleepily
"Tomorrow" we say with a sigh
"Tomorrow" we say striving for hope
"Tomorrow" we say as we cry
"Tomorrow" we vow in promise
"Tomorrow" or so we say
"Tomorrow" is the easiest out
Tomorrow is a free pass today
Tomorrow is fresh starts and beginnings
Tomorrow we hope to be more
Tomorrow is always a day away
Yet today is the tomorrow before
"Tomorrow" we say with best intentions
"Tomorrow" we say with an angry tone
"Tomorrow" we say in surrender
Tomorrow means now leave me alone
Tomorrow is a mist descending
A thin, gray translucent veil
Tomorrow is a promise hoped for
The assumption our existence prevails
Tomorrow seems an adventure
Tomorrow is not what it seems
Tomorrow when viewed as a promise
Is a destroyer of obtaining our dreams
"Tomorrow," we tell ourselves in desperation
"Tomorrow" we tell ourselves in despair
"Tomorrow" we tell ourselves with our last breath
Yet tomorrow, it's never quite there

Thank you all for participating in my need to see what tomorrow means to you
PorousPen and Lanooz, I loved both pieces! Two different ones, it was difficult to choose one.
The structure of the poem of PorousPen really got me. Even though there are some cliche verses, they fit perfectly in this poem as they were needed in order to avoid the anxiety that such a poem could make you feel. My fav stanza:
"Tomorrow is a mist descending
A thin, gray translucent veil
Tomorrow is a promise hoped for
The assumption our existence prevails "
Thank you!
Congratulations to all the poets! I really enjoyed reading all the poems
Till next time,
Art
