Poetry Contest Description
The intent is to create an exceptional piece of poetry in support of legalization of cannabis on a federal level
I would like to allow voting for the top three of which I will choose one and post a link to it on my Facebook page (with permission of course) and all credit is given to the author
Rules: must be a piece in support of legalization of cannabis.
Must be intelligently written using facts as well as opinions

We are ruled by millionaires
in bed with corporations
and pharmaceutical companies
that sell us out and keep us sick.
Trying to tell your lazy ass what's
good for you and what's not.
We could campaign to legalise Cannabis, sure. But aren't we
pussyfooting around the true
cause to be kept? The eradic-
ation of government and the
preservation of the true freedom
of man; mind, body and herb.

The Power of Pot
Let's talk for a second about a thing called weed,
Like all plants it starts with a seed.
Like everything on earth it needs tender affection,
Tell me why it is subject to rejection?
The powers that be say it is bad for you health,
But really the only sickness is to your wealth.
Let's take a second to do the research,
For sure I will not lead you on or leave you in the lurch.
Alcohol is legal and has killed many each year,
Alcohol poisoning from drowning in beer.
Some drinks cause rage, domestic's by the dozen,
How about Alcohol's stinky cousin?
Tobacco is drenched in chemicals galore,
But still smoking isn't against the law.
Medical problems up the wazoo,
Lung cancer and cardiovascular disease to name a few.
Marijuana saves your eyesight, it treats glaucoma,
It helps against nightmares and post traumatic trauma.
Unlike pre mentioned tobacco it stops the spread of cancer,
From the information I've given you I'm sure Mary-Jane is the answer.
Cannabis has not killed a single person, it has even help old timers,
It helps fight anxiety, seizures and the progression of Alzheimer's
It calms the mind to stave of discomfort and soothes chronic pain,
Yet it is still illegal tell me, why that is again?
