3 wishes to change yourself
A genie has given you 3 wishes but you must use them only on yourself. You can change anything about yourself, your physical aspects, mental capabilities, temperament. Anything about you that you think needs changing. Something that you think will make you and others happy.

A WINTER’S WONDER WISH

When shovel’n snow
In the Minnesota cold

I found beneath
A precious treasure to keep

An oil lantern of gold
Just like the ones from tales of old

I instantantly knew what to do
So I rubbed it, ‘wouldn’t you?’

And just like in fables of yesteryear
Out of the lamp a Genie appeared

“Master, I will grant you three wishes
With only one condition

All three that you choose
Must be to help you improve

Pick anything that doesn’t relate
And all your wishes you’ll negate

So be careful the wishes you so choose
Mess up just one, and all you’ll loose”

I said, “End world hunger
Bring ever lasting peace to the Middle East
And create a cure for cancer”

The Genie was perplexed
To the point of being vexed

“I told you silly old fool
Only wish for things to improve you

You just wasted three chances
For a life filled with happiness”

I said, “O’ ancient one,
You couldn't be more wrong

Every wish I've requested
Is for my personal growth and enhancement

For what greater attributes could be extoled
Than by bettering one’s spirit and soul?

And nothing will improve my felicity
Than to help improve all of humanity”

“Apologies wise Master,” Genie said,
In humility bowing his head

“All your wishes will now be granted
By the powers of my enchantment”

Then both lamp and Genie disappeared into oblivion
So I figured I’d better just get back to snow shovel’n

Winking Gems of opportunity .
To mend and polish what should be.
A array of flaws to choose but three...

She thanks the Gin, and bows with grace.
For this gift she shall not waste.

She has a heart needs tending.
Seems ever to be offending.
Prone to cracks and wandering,
a iron cage might be the thing.
lock the door, bolt it tight.
so it hardly sees the light
Keep it safe out of sight
It is so prone to taking flight.

A will that could use bending.
Propped up by foolish pride
Causes problems never ending
and kind advice it cant abide
while its forever meddling

Lastly grant a girl a less cursed face.
a less attractive mark for lies
and less chance of disgrace.

No Thank's

A genie that wants me to change myself
as if the societal mainstream
now has magic on its side
and suggests I become someone else

I'd rather be who I am and
live in a world that's less judgmental
superficial

I'd suspect my family of renting it
return it to sender

there are plenty of plastic surgeons
psychotherapists
and self-help books
tools to change you into...you?

I'm just myself
with no more time for anyone
who doesn't like that

Jinni

I’ve trapped myself a million ways
stuck in this; “I feel guilty” cage
and can’t quite gage the rage...
of feeling remorseful
when I say no to the people I love
‘I wish for peace of mind’;
to not be conscience-stricken
when I know my no will thicken and quicken
into hurtful words that aren’t appealing
I’m left dealing with my guilt-ridden feelings
I can’t please everyone all the time
needing to draw the line... somewhere
Oh sweet genie, if you dare
grant me the ‘wish of discernment’
I swear, if gullibility was a crime
I’d be a number, doing time
convict myself to my own hell
character judgment I don’t do well
credulously behavior; I’d still cosign,
on the dotted line
in lieu
of all the things I knew
A stupidity badge earned
each time I got burned
lesson taught but never learned
because I take a person for their word
even after all the lies I’ve heard
I'm so easy to believe;  I’m a bit naïve
and yet,
the light of helping others shines so deeply in me
Oh sweet genie set me free
hear my last wish, my passionate plea
I wish
    I wish
         Oh how I wish for

'endless wishes'

To have the eyes of Love to see into hearts
so I might know the right words to say
and best thing to do
for anyone and everyone
at all times.

And should anyone to whom I give my best
receive it wrongly,
treat it with apathy
or bitter hate,

I wish to have the strength
to shake their shit from my shoes
and walk on with protective shades on my eyes.

(verse 1=first wish
verse 3= two remaining wishes)

I know you will grant 3 wishes
but sorry to say
I only need one
I wouldn't have it any other way
I wish to take the pain away
My pain I feel when I see
my daughter in agonizing pain
which she endures everyday

The other 2 wishes
I grant back to you
give them to another
and make there dreams come true
for just one wish is good enough for me
I wouldn't be happy
but I'll feel some relief

a reason to
get out of bed...

no reason to
get out of bed...

a little more
time in bed to think
about stuff...
