"past
Christmas they once knew........"

Out in the field the soldier hangs his reef.
He recalls the family back home their letters he holds
so close for his longing and relief.
Christmas can be anywhere you take it in the
battlefield and bravely carry it in your heart.
You fight for those you want to protect at home.
And his memories of those Christmas past days
when he didn't stand at the outpost.  For it
wasn't his turn.  He remembers the friends now
lost and gone.  And in memorial pledges to honor them
with his continual bravery!

Another Christmas elsewhere it maybe all that they have.
A displaced family living on the road.  After the economic
failures of the recent past.  They our at least together.
They our still healthy and trying to keep warm.  They have a
meager stash of food and just enough warmth.  The father cunningly
steers them onward to survival.  This may not seem like a fair Christmas
but it is honorably true.  For the warmth they share within their sweet hearts.
Will help them continue to fight onward and maybe find that past
Christmas they once knew.
