THE HAPPIEST TIME IN MY LIFE
For my aunt
For my aunt I moved my family
lock stock and barrel, to live with her
I was needed to take care of her daily
she was sent home to die of cancer
Now this time was far from happy
I hated to see her in such pain
but taking care of her was my choice
and my self respect, I did gain
But on the day she lost her battle
as I held her hand til her last breath
she gave me one last gift of love
as I lost her in a quiet death
With a grace you could only imagine
she asked me to let her go in peace
I did not want to, but I did it
but her love I will never release
I thought that I believed before
that we do have somewhere to go
but as the light in her eyes went out
it is this I would like you to know
She helped me to be sure
she took away any doubt that I had
I knew she left for a better place
for that I will always be glad
Some of the happiest times in my life
were times that included her love
but nothing ever made me happier
than being with her, when she left for above
How could that be a happy time you ask
but she gave me a great gift that sad day
she proved to me that love lives on
I know she watches over me in every way
If I had to do it all again I would
there was nothing for her I wouldn't do
you never know how strong you can be
til someone you love truly needs you
