Hint: it's not about taking drugs
Bright lights on an endless night
Too scared to run or fight
Send the moon a fleeting glance
This may be the your one last chance
the pressure is increasing on the right
this could be your last breath here tonight
the drugs are beginning, count back from three
in just a moment child you will be free.
the pain is gone, the fear and fright
next to the layer of fire and light,
rhythm is increasing at a steady rate
this could be more than fancy and fate
the light has dimmed into night
the day has dawned an early sight
from here you left perfectly sound
safe from harm in a blackened round
sent away naked, cold, and alone,
now piles of ashes and puddles of stone
bright lights and kin never kind
I can tell you who lost their mind

How could you stoop so low
Betraying your friend to satisfy your selfish urge
There's a secret your dying to purge
But you still wonder if I really know
Meet my cold stare with awe

Possibly lethal injection? Dr. Jekyl and Mr. Hyde-ish? What it meant to you when you wrote it might not ever be known by someone else...it is a complex piece with the meaning being far from clear and present. It is well-written though, great job. x x

I was thinking operation too...first the pain on the right...appendix or gallbladder...then the drugs taking effect...then the fire and light...maybe a laser surgery...the end stumps me a bit...I can see "kin" being worried and losing their mind, but why is it now piles of ash? Did someone die during the surgery?
