Birth

As through the ages, you are
the flow of sand
through an hourglass

As I look on, on my way
to be first born
for a thousand times

But who are we...
              Who are we...
Who are we...
               Who are we...
Is this the sky?

I’m speeding on a highway
can you feel me
waiting for the birth

Creation is the nurse’ry
I sing to you
I heed everything

But where is he...
               Where is he...
Where is he...
               Where is he...
And why am I?

Yodel

Carry me upon its airs
A beseech into the stars
A single throat
That warbling thrush
In windswept
Like golden dust

Behold a clarity not shrill
A beconing
Not in words
But notes that wing
To make hills and valleys sing

A joy its keys fly unrestrained
Not mapped in score
But free to range
An instrument
A natures soaring grace

Akin to soap and flowers
Effervescent springs so unadorned
To cleanse away dirt from all clogged pores
Cascading scales like a waterfall
The bouquet given free to all

Hand in Hand with the Devil............. (Soap & Skin Comp)

His breath sent warm blushed whisperings across her flesh, igniting her apex with a hellfire singe.
All that once was sacrosanct dissapated as fleeting dopamine surged from his bargaining invitation and plea.
Not even the tides of pink need could tame the greed for the Devil's wicked seed of invirtuous deeds.
He held the fervent balm that soothed the ache, as she surrendered, ignoring all guilt and  shame.
Down, went an angel; free falling from grace, succumbing to the game of iniquity that called her name.
In the end, reality slapped her face to wake up and change, as the bastard laughed at her disgrace, shouting...

".... Little girl, don't cry, you grabbed my hand to walk side by side.....

...it's you to blame ....you know lust reigns."

Sleep(less)

There’s a perfect dissonance in the chords,
Without words,
Off rhythm and off tempo…
It’s going to be a sleepless night.
And yet in what seems like a dream,
I hear voices amidst harmonies,
Mixing and interweaving through my head as I lay in bed thinking about the loneliest hours.

I have no view of the moon through my window,
But I’m absorbed by the sounds of the dark,
Waiting for the restful slumber,
My soul is lost in the specifics of nothing,
But I hear the chords again,
A slight chorus and then
Trailing off into the black,
Echoing in my ears with a resonance of distant thunder I imagine is calling me out.

If you’re out there,
Dream for me,
I’m unable to enter the realm on this night,
Maybe my essence will travel like brainwaves and you’ll sense my presence by your side.
This beautiful chorus and chords
Are better than any words I can ever compose
Dissonant in the distance
As I am sleep(less) and lost in the dark.

Sleep

Slow piano chimes, it opens my mind
the voice gives rise, it guides my lines.
Can't understand the words she finds,
piano and voice as one, entwined.
It still strikes me, serene, sublime,
is she in pain that my ears now find?
My joy and pain it can subside,
the chords ring loud, my past reminds.
Sleep is the song, but to it I'm blind,
strain to hear, words lost inside,
the echoing music eardrums bind.
Listening closer her voice declines,
softly whispering, the piano grinds.
All music equal, my soul unwinds,
I gave it a listen, two or three times,
giving chance to all mankind,
to drift to sleep, we all resign.

Thank you for the opportunity to step out of my norm and hear some great music as well as pushing me outside my normal subjects of writting. I enjoyed reading others inspirations. Everything helps build all of us as better writters. A few exceptional pieces flowed from and they astounded me with their raw ability to see this style of music better than I. Something I am learning as I go.

Good fun. Great works.

Wow, thank you AEMelia564, just saw this, you've made my day!!! 😊 Thank you also for the introduction to this unique artist. It was challenging to blend my personal experience with the raw intensity of her songs. I also enjoyed reading everyone's entries & was curious about what element of the music would be present in the poems.

I love that DUP and it's members introduce us to a variety of artist, writers and musicians. Ms AEmelia has done so with her wide array of musical knowledge. Music is a universal language and discovering, exploring more of what's out there adds to  my ever expanding love for the art.
Thank you AEmelia for letting me stand on the podium along with Heaven_sent_Kathy. Congratulations to Tunde_e on a well deserved piece.

My congratulations to the winner of this magical challenge - Tunde_e !  And congratulations to you, Wallyroo92 ...it's an honor to share the podium with you both.

And to host Melia (AEMelia564) for another of her spectacular selection of world music - I learn a lot from these music appreciation comps - and I love all the music you linked us to, by Soap & Skin.

Here's all the best I wish to everyone involved,

Blessed and blessings
Kathy
