 "Not right now; I'm almost to level seven."
But I need your attention! she cries inside.
And yet he plays, ignoring that angel from heaven
Who has all this time remained at his side.

"I can't take it," she exclaims as she leaves the room.
And yet he plays, eyes and mind glued fast to the screen,
Marching into battle at the front of his Elven platoon.
It's almost as if his girlfriend he has never seen.

She drives away and drives away.
She drives while thinking heavy thoughts.
"With him, no longer can I stay."
An idea!  At the nearest electric store, a laptop she bought.

"I'm home," she calls upon returning to the house.
He grumbles a reply and resumes glaring at the wall.
"Do you like what I'm wearing--this new blouse?"
"Sure."  "I got it at the mall."

The next day he's at it again;
Once more, she leaves that place.
"What's with this?! I always win!"
He yells with an angry snarl upon his face.

Once again, he has lost.
His fallen army lay broken and fading.
In the next few days he paid the cost
And did not win even though his time he tried bading.

Given up, the screen lies dormant;
He finally notices that she is gone.
Her company he now does want,
The house is empty and quiet like a stagnant pond.

He suspects and accuses her,
She yells and leaves again.
And so what does he do but follow her?
He mutters, "I won't let her get away with this sin!"

Where she stops, he stops behind.
A laptop, he sees, whatever for?
He sneaks up to the car, unsure of what he'd find;
What a surprise--it was she who had been killing him in war...
