Queer

"Oddly enough,
it was with her derogatory slur,
reeking of ignorance,
that light was shed....
In that moment of delivery,
the sting invoked by her words,
there was a truth of present-being.
I recalled a time when the use of such words carried little moral value.
I recalled the dark ages of where we've been and remembered how far we've come. I reevaluated where we are now,
and it's beautiful.
There are still steps to go,
but mountains have been climbed."
