Dear Father
Do you miss me, despite the time that’s passed between us?
Would you welcome me if I came down on a plane or bus?
Would you hold your arms open and pull me into an embrace?
Or am I what I think I am, a disgrace?
Do you miss me, do you regret what you said?
Would you take it all back to have a day with me,
Like I wish you’d say when I’m lying alone in bed?
Do you wish for a picture just to see?
Do you miss me, a person you’ve never met?
I’d like to think the future is never set.
Do you miss me, do you ever wonder what I’ve grown into,
Like I do?
Would you welcome me if I came down on a plane or bus?
Would you hold your arms open and pull me into an embrace?
Or am I what I think I am, a disgrace?
Do you miss me, do you regret what you said?
Would you take it all back to have a day with me,
Like I wish you’d say when I’m lying alone in bed?
Do you wish for a picture just to see?
Do you miss me, a person you’ve never met?
I’d like to think the future is never set.
Do you miss me, do you ever wonder what I’ve grown into,
Like I do?
