I thought he was different
But he was not
He broke my heart
And I haven't forgot
He was kind
His love was fire
And now I’m afraid
To feel desire

And I was the last to know
So I'll sit and watch as
She makes him feel low

unnatural heartbreak (a short story)
I look into the eyes of my love & I know that I have hurt her beyond hope for forgiveness. I see the tears running down her beautiful but pained face, the loneliness and anger in my Sariah’s eyes. I turn away & step into the shadows I have to hurt the person I love but I have to make my beloved hate me. I have to, there’s no other way.

I sat waiting, watching.
If he walked out we had won and the war was over. if he didn’t come out he was either dead or imprisoned to be questioned or tortured later. if he didn't come out we were all in danger.
The seconds ticked by a slow tick, tick, tick. i looked down at the watch he gave me. if he was not out in five minutes, we were to leave without him.
Tick, tick, tick.
He should have been out already.

The boy was about her age, twelve or thirteen. His hair was as black as the darkest night, plastered to his head with sweat. He was covered with cuts, some still bleeding, others weren't. Deep Realities (a short story)
It was just another hot day in a succession of the many hot days of my childhood. The sun baking the cotton in the fields. the air seaming to boil.
The slaves working ever hard in the fields as I watched them from the main house.The way I watched them was like a bored person watches bugs crawl across the dirt.
I was higher than them, more human than them... or so they told me.
My father, the owner of the plantation and all the slaves, man, woman, and child, always told me that those who weren't one hundred percent white weren’t to be trusted. They were feral...

The House
The fire burns the house,
leaving a shell of the memories it held.
Broken, like the family it once held.
A pile of char, never again to be home.
Abandoned, never to be loved again.
After all, who loves a piece of charred wood?
Nobody.
The house failed,
was lost to the flames.
Or was it the people who failed?
Was if life?
Is the house just another casualty in this twisted game we play?
Is the boy that never escaped a casualty?
Why, why should it be that way?
But it is this way
And it will never change.
It is and...
