While We Were Driving

I pointed out the sky
to my daughter

look I said

a band of brilliant orange
had bisected the indigo
bursts of clouds
like some kid in heaven
had taken a giant crayon
slashed it within
a great blue bowl

and we were the ants
struggling inside it

my daughter tried to take
a picture of it
with her cell phone
this made me sad
because I knew in trying
to ensnare it she would
lose its essence entirely

then she said
Mama
maybe Santa is really real
maybe he's got magic
that makes you forget
you ever saw him

and I thought about
that wild Van Gogh sky
how it tasted of truth
like a bruise

I wondered if she was right
that maybe it was a cap
filled with amniotic fluid
and we humans would forget
from moment to moment

misplace our thoughts
and each other

like house keys
or errant gloves

Sea-Birth

(inspired by an article entitled "Divers Offer Burial Below the Sea")

foam narrates the sea
a map of bones

I ache to fall forever
below the water
like a doll weighted by cement

taste the salty resolve
etched on my tongue

to a haunted place of eyes
rippling in my memory

where sunlit voices
curl like fingers
through the waves

my ghost would swim
beside the pale verdant lions

through holes like mouths
filled with gaping darkness
crawling with mermaid hair

the dust-speckled splendor
I saw as a child
carved lovingly under
glass bottom boats

the masts of ships
white crosses in the moonlight

as Neptune's murky kisses
dripped wet and languid
onto my grayish lips

his anemone arms
encircling me

as I drown in the emerald
music of fish
their song a shivering green

their glittering scales
like steps leading
to deeper shadow
and hallowed silence

a barnacled ladder
to heaven

Blue Angels

A Delta Break-through shatters the sky
in a five-point flower of smoke.
Even your mother is rendered dumb
by the inexplicable beauty of flight.

My eyes are seduced by twin flames
of thunderous eagles. Your gaze
mimics mine, hungering for precision
of angles, rhythm. Flesh.

They inextricably linked
as light glints off wings,
some forgotten child's skipping stones
rubbed smooth and clean.

He hurls them across a field of blue water.
Diamonds crest the speed of sound
as music from engines
rattles the bones of the dead.

I just realized that I possibly posted too many entries. I was thinking for some reason you could post up to five. I apologize if this was incorrect.

Dreamland

The air feels like heavy melancholy
misty and somewhat clouded over
like eyes that cried a moment ago
or an old glass marble
scuffed with time

constant rainbows of emerald green
and skies the colour of bruised cherries
streams that look like echoes
as soundwaves meet to dance

there are dazzling stars in midday
shining yellow and peach light down
like drapes over me as I bask
in the white light

liquid butterflies fluttering
onto singing flowers
to fly away whole

and birds sit still as trees flutter past
and a crystal pearl sits atop
every blade of grass

my friend and I
it's our home

far away from the rusting iron gate
the others see

mirroring the looking eyes

north polar magnetronic
gush of virgin chillness
breaks through
the opening morning doors
as sleety haze
of spraying mists

clears off
all of a sudden
as if things falling in line
with His flaring orangish passion

the mastersun's fire
ignites Her camphoreceous heart
the earthern lady sizzles
in her sublime rising flames
invisibly
holding His glassy pheromonal rays

her meditating eyepools
are in rain-prayer trances
by dotting fly-angels
the shallow peacock-ish needle damsels
and higher draganous helicopter-warriors
in steady hovering missions

as first crop
of monsoonal drizzle
fuses
on her granular tropics,
conceptional fragrances
of geosminic actinomycetes
bursts out in sandy dusts
a mesmerizing release

rustling autumn leaves
in deep-crunchy notes
shape vertical
as browny-tinging tornadoes
over seamless horizons

somewhere
on the distant corners
spying myopic visions
zooms in
the tender adolescence
of the Thar girl
in firm sprawls
her dusky landscapes
bear thousand sanddune breasts
with sturdy palms and sappy oases
amongst her dreamy fluidic mirages

swarming locust armies
create switching scenes
as they displace themselves
in dizzying velocities

killer smile flashes
in drawing fluorescence
of yellows and pinks
the pithy cacti
super-blooms
from her thorny
succulents

nightish oceanic indigoes
the mystical skies
cast countless starry diamonds
January Jupiter dazzles along
and a rarely entering emerald comet
streaks lightning fast
across telescopic space,
its wispy purplish-blue tail
leaves a magical trail
on those
untiring
looking eyes

in totality

1.
a dust micronic
dwindles down
twirling
multidimensional
pitches  in depths
of mergence

kicks-off  budding cloud bubbles
dust storms  in different debacle
that  lay in more difficult layering
of little gleaming exposures
eaten in swallows  between
leeward shadowgrays
and alluring blackfaces

2.
with black chest
and white wings
they encircle skies
their descendance, the
grayish chequer ones
outnumber them  sooner

clariant gulmohur canopies
in paintred and maygreens
dew-dazzle in irrigative sprinkles
by shedding shower-fresh mynas
not longer, same grayish populace
corners to erase flashes in fullness

3.
smudging commonalities
arise across unclassifiable skies
in rather finer close-up segments
of the tingling tamarind leaflets
immensive background bursts open
bears a ripening mango yellow sun
habitually going unseen within high blues
carcinogenic haziness
undifferentiating
in smoky dusks
