I am a poet, a writer, and an artist; I have a great passion, and desire to infect you all with my insanity! I have been influenced by many writers throughout my life: Plath, Poe, Dickinson, Carroll, Wilde, Frost… the list could go on. I love literature. It is that love that has led me to explore many different forms and ways of writing poetry and prose; to study literature, writing and the human condition.
My love for literature and language began in 6th grade, with my English teacher, Mrs. Talbot. She taught me the works of Poe and Shakespeare and showed me the rhythm of poetry, the beauty of words, and the creativeness of phrases and lines. Most of my writing at that time was for school. Poetry and short stories, book reports and essays. It wasn't until I was 15 that I really started to write to release the demons that crowded my mind. Now, 25 years later, I cannot imagine my life without writing.
I'm dedicated to my craft. Though I often fail at expressing the words, words never fail me. I strive to continue to grow in my writing. Some would say, because I have taught poetry and writing, because I have critiqued poems, because I have published books, that I must be a master at my craft. But that is not so. Teaching and critiquing have taught me just as much about writing as I have taught to my students, my peers.
