Dots and Lines
Above the high-rise buildings
with their rectangles
and squares of light
Above the Circle K sign
in the distance
Above the restaurant across the street's
clusters of patio lights,
in the murky gray night sky
with its blinking dots of helicopters and planes
the ISS enters from the Northwest,
just like the app said it would.
It's a bright silver dot
on the horizon
but small
a modest engagement ring's diamond
From the astronauts' perspective
250 miles above
North America is a...

Just...
a wee pause, a smile --
remember me an instant;
all I can hope for
remember me an instant;
all I can hope for

We Can Survive This
We still travel close
you and I
even in separation
we are forever
bonded by the children
Even in
anger, hurt
- the defeat
I can still love
from a safe distance
I'm no longer ashamed
that what I gave
turned out temporary
or that the heat between us
vanished in the midst
of the many changes
But we can't forget
that there were always
exterior forces
exerting unnecessary pressures
and pulling us from
the sanctuary of each other
And eventually,
we can't...

In Exile
I know things got off on the wrong foot right from the start
At the time when I was young I just fell apart
Even after all the years of me trying to do what was right
Lately it just feels like your silence is out of spite
With every visit I loved our conversations and laughs
The quality time was more precious and unforgettable
And as you got older you became stronger and bolder
So I wrote you verses to make our relationship memorable
But something strange happened within the last few years
You’re so distant and quiet and won’t talk to...

black river rising
I don't know what
will save
us
I don't know what
CAN save
us...
maybe nothing
can save us
at all
that morning you
weren't sitting
next to
me
the air grew bitter
and heavy
on my
skin
words turned to
ricin in my
throat
the sounds of your absence as
silent as footsteps on my
grave
leaving my heart a stone to
be cast into the deepest
part of a black
river
will save
us
I don't know what
CAN save
us...
maybe nothing
can save us
at all
that morning you

Sepia
Sepia
A pink canvas to paint our dreams
Turns into a grand
Amphitheater of clouds
Whose soul is the sepia
That preserves tears in amber

That preserves tears in amber

Too Soon
In a moment, we'll meet,
In a second, we'll caress,
In a minute, we'll kiss....
In an hour, we'll reminisce, on the passing of time, too soon....
Counting the moments....the seconds, until another brand new moon....
Rushing the minutes....
Cursing the hours....
Dreading the pace, of this sluggish afternoon.
What is it to time, that our time be too much?
What does the hour hand know of your, & my, cherished touch?
Does it not know, near you, I'm alive, but apart, I perish much?

Estrangement
Suddenly it all explodes.
Years of dynamite left dormant in
a seam of canyon somewhere west of here,
blowing up bundle by bundle until
the whole formation, built on years
as much as rock, collapses into naught.
You gave them a chance to respond,
to bridge the gap the canyon forged.
Silence was their reply,
and so the switch at last was thrown,
reducing that relationship
to rubble in the noonday sun.

it tastes like a memory, but looks like a dream
I miss the way love feels
pressed against my skin
electric and meaningful
The memory of your hands
turn to ash
and I'm left holding
nothing more
than the memory of a dream
And I hate that I'm so empty
every touch feels ghostly
and unreal
Your heat turned cold
to whisper past on the breeze
like wayward leaves
that don't know how
to find their way home
I miss the way you felt
the way you touched
the way you fucked
I missed the way you loved me ...
pressed against my skin
electric and meaningful
The memory of your hands
turn to ash
and I'm left holding
nothing more
than the memory of a dream
And I hate that I'm so empty
every touch feels ghostly
and unreal

No direction just follow what you know
Hello stranger
It's been many long years
Since I first held you against my skin
Despite that gap in between dimensions
You and I share a very special connection
As separate ripples ripple their own way
So do they inevitably return to source
The stories each has to tell the other Kiddo
That will happen in due course
This I am sure
