The Frost Lioness
Winter Waits for her time to bite
A crouching Lioness
In frozen winds
Belly to the arctic waves
Starved and waiting
To strike at the painted land
Painted by Autumn's golden Hands
She Preys on those
Without a future
Without a past
A crouching Lioness
In frozen winds
Belly to the arctic waves
Starved and waiting
To strike at the painted land
Painted by Autumn's golden Hands
She Preys on those
Without a future
Without a past

Why Have I Become A Fallen Angel?
She got down on
her knees and
begged God to
say why he kicked
her out of Heaven.
her knees and
begged God to
say why he kicked
her out of Heaven.

Planets R us
The world must be peopled" I have read
On pages by someone who wrote it well
And now it bounces around in my head
Where it drives out unwanted thoughts of hell.
"The world must be peopled" I have heard
And for years those words like a bell have rung
And, yes, my mentation may be absurd
But now it's a song that can't be unsung.
"The world must be peopled" rings again
Giving my brain more age old advice
And from which it's unable to abstain,
Unlike a mechanical thinking device.

Equanimity
Just one man wanting to get rich
Is an act of social sabotage
When Mother Nature is a finite bitch
Where wealth itself is only camouflage;
A test to check for that demerit greed,
Which is one of many character flaws
We separate from legitimate need
With good reason, and scientific laws,
Which prove that capitalism is bad;
Selling community by exclusion,
When community can be fairly had
By steady commodity extrusion...
Liberated from those marketing schemes
That willfully crush equality dreams!

Reality Cheque
The train of thought must stay on it's rail
And brook not the slightest interference,
Or, see the span of attention fail
With co-occurring collapse of coherence
Whose structure relies on myriad truss
Which we foolishly think must be free
And somehow make it past all the fuss
The fiscal engineers fail to see...
For men's mental boots are not made with straps,
Making the upward pull a sideways stretch
From easy street dining to day old scraps
Suitable only for dogs playing fetch...
So fetch us now the support that we need
Down...

Lost Boys
In a dream they had diverse toys,
But sadly, some had only one
Which is all we give misfortune's boys
For otherwise they might have none;
No token for their youthful joys
So frequent in the vernal sun
Breeding adolescent noise
Of merriment and nonstop fun.
But when they wake they get no treats
And are never told when they do well
Out on their filthy asphalt streets
Which all too often is the hell
Of virtue being replaced by vice,
With innocence, the admission price.

when everything falls apart
I will never understand
how things can fall apart so fast
And I watch you go
wishing I could bend your fate
but it's not my fate to bend
or break
We all walk our own paths
for better or worse
and try and some peace
in this strange world
that doesn't always
give us a break
And more chances
would make all the difference
because we know we are better
than the demons that rule us
when the night gets dark and lonely
and our reflection isn't something
we can bear to face
I...

This isn't my home
Though I've lived here for years
This isn't my home
Though the memories are warm
This isn't my home
Though we have peace
This isn't my home
We just stay here
Yet deep down
Anytime we could be thrown out
A roof over your head
Is a blessing
I hope you know that
Because that's the one thing
I've never had
Protection from the rain
Is only rented from month to month
Yet deep down you know
You hold no power
Deep down you know
That you're walking on eggshells ...

Anchorage Sound
Inspired by “Anchorage” by Joy Harjo
I love the silence of the sound
how each slope does surround
the still icy inlet
nestling me in its arms
A safe harbor
a safe haven
flocked by the black raven
stalked by Grey Wolf
Cold water days
recall ancient Inuit ways
hunting fur seal
burning soft blubber
I have never been indigenous
exiled from many lands
tallying slipping sands
as they mark the waning time
Truer than the Arctic tide
a distant homeland denied
in both...

When I Was Homeless
When I was homeless
I felt lost at sea
stranded in the middle of an ocean
surrounded by water and hostile sky
sometimes a helicopter would approach from afar
the propeller rising in volume
- rescue at last
only for the helicopter to pass over
disappearing from sight
a week passed
then another
a month
six weeks
I still had nowhere to live
I stayed in cheap hotels
plundering my savings
each day fear lodged deep in my body
gnawing away as it promised ruin and destruction
...

Our Conscience
The world has gotten ass backwards
In these last couple of years
Whether it’s through politics or greed
Morals have fallen on deaf ears
I’m talking about the ethics of humanity
Which have become so obscure
When the constant suffering of so many
Become profits for the rich assured
And as absurd as that may be sounding
Think how many are hungry tonight
While some shit in their gold commodes
Something just doesn’t seem right
There is a heartless avarice that grows within
When those who have more want more
It...

the dark isn't so heavy when I'm sleeping
I keep seeing the same homeless man
at the main bus stop in town
and I remember seeing him
one time at a soup kitchen
loaded up with a suitcase
a bunch of bags and a swag
and I don't want to imagine
how hard his life must be
living on the streets
keeping himself from the drunk kids
with a grugde against the world
and boots that don't care what they kick
as long as it feels good
and bad weather days that have no mercy
for anyone down on their luck
I've been homeless
but always found a roof
I could...
