SMOKER'S CONFESSION
Old stinky cigarette
How did you get on my back?
Got me fiending for you
Like heroin or crack
You serve no purpose
Yet I spend my cash
To keep you around
Yet you never last
You permeate my clothes
Deteriorate my breath
Contaminate my home
Until nothing is fresh
You wrinkle my lips
And threaten my health
Yet I don’t have the strength
To defend myself
My lover won’t kiss me
At church I’m ashamed
A self-inflicted handicap
I’m broken and maimed
All because in the beginning
The smoke made me curious
Now I’m hooked on a monster
Who’s deadly and serious
So please you pray for me
And I’m not joking
I really need to quit
This cigarette smoking!
How did you get on my back?
Got me fiending for you
Like heroin or crack
You serve no purpose
Yet I spend my cash
To keep you around
Yet you never last
You permeate my clothes
Deteriorate my breath
Contaminate my home
Until nothing is fresh
You wrinkle my lips
And threaten my health
Yet I don’t have the strength
To defend myself
My lover won’t kiss me
At church I’m ashamed
A self-inflicted handicap
I’m broken and maimed
All because in the beginning
The smoke made me curious
Now I’m hooked on a monster
Who’s deadly and serious
So please you pray for me
And I’m not joking
I really need to quit
This cigarette smoking!
