I don't want to go deep
Don't want you to know me....the real me
I promise you, she is ugly
Lost myself long ago
Black as night is my soul
My heart is a mere shadow
The Devil crawled through my window
Fucked me until I bled
Left me hallow
My innocence battered and dead
He left a present, a future pregnant with sorrow
There is no new tomorrow
These same fucking feelings
Pure dread fills my head
I wake up again, just to wallow
My past is just so hard to swallow

You know how some seem to bleed sunshine and daisies? ...this ain't it. And I like it for that!
First read came across as a brutal rendering of a hardened self through fantastic dark imagery. But second read... could this be the voice of a victim who feels tainted by the acts of another? Either way, it's a powerful piece and I enjoyed the rhyme/near rhyme that feels almost unintentional. Nicely done!
