Forbidden vistas

I gazed into forbidden vistas.
Unkown and hidden parts
of a neverending universe.
Secret places known to all
but where only a few fools
dare venture.
I have seen things not meant
for man, uncovering secrets
not found in any book.
In retrospect I wonder if it
was worth it? Hidden beneath
reality are things that make
even me shudder.
Ordinary people live a lie,
as they hide under a merciful
cloak of ignorance. Unlike me
they are happy.
